Evaluative Commentary
The article illustrates the disadvantages of students having access to
Facebook. The author is optimistic and advocates its drawbacks because
Facebook has many negative effects that may ruin ones dream and
future.
Firstly, Facebook will surely affects the students studies at school and
even at home. Nowadays, Facebook is easily accessible by students at
school. Having that benefit makes students spend more time on Facebook
instead of studying. It is said that Facebook is something bad and will
affect students future.
Moreover, many students lives have been affected because of the cyber
bullying. Some of these bullying acts are posting fake rumours and
threatening the victims through messages. The cyber bullying victims will
be scared and embarrassed at the same time as they have been bullied
online through Facebook.
The author also said that Facebook plays a main role in the low confident
of school children. Not getting over three hundred friends on Facebook will
make the student feel that they are not up-to-date. This will make them
upset and feeling down and give a negative effect on how they should
think.
I partially agree with the author that Facebook is somehow bad to school
children as they will not focusing on studies and school. However,
Facebook can also be a really good medium for the students to gain new
knowledge and updates at school. Students will learn new things through
Facebook and some knowledge can also be easily access through that.
In summary, I reaffirm my stand that Facebook is not only gives
disadvantages but also serves several important benefits to school
children. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that Facebook is not the main
distraction for the students to focus in studying. Therefore, Facebook is
safe for the student either at school or at home.
