Project 1 Reflection
Even the road to writing this report was a little bumpy (Note to self: stick to Google
docs!) I truly enjoyed it because I felt how it challenged me in new ways, and I could also feel
how I was learning about new writing techniques and formats that are going to be useful in my
future career. In my previous English courses, I have felt my writing getting stronger, and I feel
like I have learned quite a few things about writing in English, but with this course, I feel like I
am getting close to my academic goals because I feel the type of writing we are doing here, is the
type I will have to practice in my everyday professional life, so I am highly excited about this
path of learning and developing skills in the field. Regarding the SLOs I put number two (Find
and Evaluate Information) into practice, by doing secondary research in order to support my
report. I learned how to perform a deeper academic research by using the University library
sources instead of just using google or other search engines of that sort. Also, SLO number 1
(Analyze Rhetorical Situation) was a big part of this report, because I had to pay close attention
to my audience and how to address it. It was hard for me to know when to be more personal with
my writing and when to be more formal. For example, as I was writing about my secondary
research I felt like I had to write in third person and be more professional, but when presenting
my methods, primary research and, results I felt like I could be more personal, and use the word
I. Because I felt so passionate about my project, and I was the one who did the surveys and
analyzed the results, I felt like the only way I could have explained how the development of my
project took place was by explaining it from my own point of view. Apart from this, SLO
number 3 (Compose Documents) was quite the interesting to me, because I had never written a

report in my life, so the process of writing got quite messy. After I was done I realized my paper
was all over the place and had no organization whatsoever, even though I had followed the
IMRaD structure, I ended up moving things around in order to make a better and more clear text
that had a good structure and organization. Overall I think this has been a very enriching process
and even thought I know the report might not me perfect, I know I did my best and followed the
rules as best as I could. Even after the disaster of loosing almost my entire text, I think I enjoyed
writing mostly because I am very passionate about the subject, and I think it is very important to
write things that socially matter, show people what it going on in our society, and what we could
do in order to create better and more including atmosphere around us.
