Transition: The first big problem with not having physical education and
sports are

Problem: Not all schools value physical education and sports as a big
part in the education process. Many schools have made cuts on how
much PE time there is and some have cut PE classes completely.
Some schools have cut certain sport programs as well or even
eliminated them altogether.
a. Support: The education policies (ACSCAN.org, Journal of
theoretical training in PE, Children and youth in out of school
educational establishments)
i.
Cause: People have different views on what they believe is the most
important when it comes to education without actually knowing all
the facts and benefits that PE and sports do bring to the education
spectrum in schools.
a. Support: education polices and fact sheets
i.
Evidence: At least 50% of PE class time should be
spent in moderate to vigorous physical activity.
ii.
Evidence: PE and Sports help to improve or
maintain their physical well being.
iii.
Evidence: Public health organizations
recommend at least 60min. per-day of physical
activity
b. Support: ACS, CAN, ADA, AHA and many other national groups
recommend
150min. of PE each week for children in elementary and 225min.
per-week for middle school and high school.
i.
Evidence: A high quality PE program should
enhance the physical, mental, social/emotional
development of every child.
ii.
Evidence: PE and Sports can have a positive
impact on cognitive ability.
Transition: The solution to this problem is quit simple
