Mukurtu (MOOK-oo-too) is a community archive and digital content management platform. Mukurtu is built to support communities
to manage, share, and exchange their digital heritage in culturally relevant and ethically-minded ways. The platforms serves
tribes, cultural preservation programs, language revitalization
programs, museums, archives, libraries and more. Mukurtus philosophy is to maintain an open, community-driven approach to development and to help build a platform that fosters relationships of respect and trust.
In this workshop, participants will get hands-on experience with
Mukurtu CMS and Mukurtu Mobile. Participants will learn: 1)
basic site set up 2) core features, 3) step-by-step procedures to
curate digital heritage items with Mukurtu CMS and how to collect content using Mukurtu Mobile. Participants will see examples of Mukurtu CMS in use in communities emphasizing preservation strategies, cultural
protocols, and the use of traditional knowledge labels for items and collections.
