FAQs for TA Certification

If I took the exam earlier this year do I need to take it again before October 31 st?
o No, if you have taken the exam this calendar year you will not need to
recertify until next year.
What is the passing grade for the certification exam?
o There is no passing grade, simply a pass or fail response.
Is the exam open book?
o Yes, the exam can be taken using the online Policies and Procedures Guide as
well as provided tutorials that can be found under the downloads page under
Training Materials on the VSS website.
Can I take the exam more than once?
o Yes, the exam can be taken as many times as needed to achieve a passing
score.
What are the exam names?
o There are two exams located under the VUE Testing client: PVTC_A Pearson
VUE Admin Cert Exam A: Standard and PVTC_B Pearson VUE Admin Cert
Exam A: Special
Are the exams available in other languages?
o The PVTC_A Pearson VUE Admin Cert Exam A: Standard is available in
Chinese, Japanese and Korean
How long is the exam?
o 70 minutes for both the Standard and the Special exams. (Subject to change
annually)
How many questions is the exam?
o 70 questions for both the Standard and the Special exams. (Subject to
change annually)
How many test administrators must certify?
o A test center needs a minimum of one test administrator to be certified at all
times. If your test center has multiple test administrators, all test
administrators must be certified.
What will happen if I do not certify by the deadline?
o The site will be deactivated until the certification has been completed. If the
site fails to certify a test administrator in a timely manner the site could be
de-authorized as well. Pearson VUE will never deactivate or de-authorize a
site without providing notification.
Do I have to pay for this exam?
o No, the exam is free of charge and can be taken as many times as needed.
Do I have to take this exam again if I certified at another site?
o No, the certification exam applies to all Pearson VUE sites.
Do we receive a score report or certificate?
o If the printer is connected properly a certificate will print along with a passing
score report. A score report will print for a pass or fail attempt.
Are there accommodations available for the exam (ex. reader)?
o Pearson VUE does not supply accommodations for the exam. All exams must
only be completed by the TA but a reader/translator is acceptable.
