TONY CENTER QUALIFIES FOR COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIR TONY CENTER a Contact: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 912-238-5766 MARCH 1, 2016 Today I qualified to run for Chair of the Chatham County Commission. As many already know, the state legislature changed the Commission districts fad put my home outside of the 3d District. Although the Georgia Senate acted to put my home back in the i District, that bill was blocked in the Georgia House. Seven of our eight local legislators signed to give me the opportunity to continue representing the citizens of the Third District. T am grate! Be Sens. Lester Jackson, Ben Watson, and Reps. Ron Stephens, Craig Gordon, Bill Hitchens, Jesse Petrea, and the late Bob Bryant for their confidence and support. However, I am ineligible to run for re-election as Chatham County’s 3d District Commissioner. If you will ask the residents of Mulberry Hill who asked me to protect them from invasive development, the residents on Briarwood Road in Garden City who asked me to protect the sanctity of their neighborhood, the residents of Marsh Point who needed street lighting, and the residents of Nottingham who requested sidewalks and protection from blight, you will leam that I have used my four years as Commissioner to respond quickly and effectively to constituent concerns. Not only have I responded to individual constituent concerns, I used my experiences and education to carefully study and make educated decisions on all issues brought before me. I voted against using public monies to build private development on Hutchinson Island. I acted as a coalition builder to create an 8-1 vote to preserve police protection to our entire community. I used my Personal association with state leaders to halt measures on the state level and my experience as a telecom attorney to arrange meetings with Federal Communication Commissioners in Washington, DC to protect the Downtown Historic District and the safety of our mosquito control pilots from invasive cell tower construction. Ask any staffer of County government, ask my fellow commissioners, ask the constituents of the 3d District, and even constituents of other districts, particularly of the Eastside Coalition of neighborhoods that have been riddled with random gunshots and pestered by feral dogs, and they will tell you that I have responded to their calls and given my best to address their concerns and protect their quality and sanctity of living in Chatham ‘ounty.
