Exponential Growth in the Bell Pepper Population

1. How many seeds were in your initial pepper? This represents the first
generation.
-In one green bell pepper, it contains 102 seeds.
2. How many plants were alive in your pepper population after only 5
generations?
-In 5 generations, there is a population of 11,040,808,032 peppers.
3. Describe your graph.
-In the exponential graph of the population, Ive noticed that the bell
pepper populations gradually increases. Additionally, between the 4 th and 5th
generation of the population, the population increases dramatically.
4. Make a list of five environmental factors that might limit natural or wild
populations (not necessarily pepper plant or human populations).

1). The population will exceed the given area of the environment can
provide/contain.
2). Climate change
3). Decrease in the availability of resources, such as water.
4). Developed land, which changes animal and plant habitats.
5). Change in the composition of the soil.
5. If a population were subjected to some of these environmental factors for a
considerable length of time, would you expect to see any changes in the
population? Based on the information provided above, explain your answer. BE
SPECIFIC which factors would cause which changes?
1). If the population exceeds the amount that the environment can
support, then other population can either decrease for having a limited amount of
resources available to the population or by having other species find new means for
a source of energy in order to survive the in the over populated environment.
2). If there is a change in climate/temperature, then it can affect other
species in the environment. If the population dies off or decrease because of
extreme changes in the climate, it will affect other species in the environment that
depend on them for their main source of energy.
3). If the resource water is limited, it can decrease the species in the
population in the given area. If there is less water to go around, it can disrupt the
food chain. If one specie is effected by having an inadequate water resource
provided, then it will ultimately effect the rest of the species that depend of the first
or primary species in the food chain overtime.

4). The developing lands caused by humans can decrease the area that
could be provided for other species in the community. In the high demand for
human activities and construction in a given area, it takes away the habitat and the
resources provided by the environment that are needed by other species in order to
survive.
5). The type of soil in the ground can affect the population in the
environment. If the soil for example doesnt contain the essential nutrients in
order for any plant species to survive, then it can decrease the plant
population and can ultimately affect other species in the community that
depend on the declining plant species.
