I am writing this letter in support of Carol Daughertys application for Santa Fe Colleges Hall of Fame.
Carol enrolled in my Health Care Law (PLA 4522) and Research Methods (HSA 4700) online courses in
Fall, 2015.
Online courses require a substantial amount of self-management and motivation. Carol demonstrated
tremendous ability, completing assignments with notable effort and enthusiasm. She expressed particular
interest in the Health Care Law course, remarking frequently on her interest in the content and engaging in
considerable depth with her peers on discussion assignments. She has consistently performed above
average on assignments, and her efforts in each of these courses has been notable, earning a final score of
A in both courses with me.
In addition to being a top academic achiever, Carol has proven to be a great asset to the Santa Fe College
community. She has been actively involved in the leadership of the Health Services Administration
Student Association (HSASA), where she has served as the organizations Senator. With HSASA, she has
participated in a number of service projects, as well as many professional development activities. Carol,
along with other selected members of HSASA, represented SFs Health Services Administration program
at the 2015 American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Leadership Congress in Chicago, IL. In
all of these activities, Carol demonstrates excellence in leadership and achievement, all while managing
her academic demands in the Bachelor of Applied Science program and her responsibilities and duties as
Santa Fe Colleges Senate President.
Carol understands the importance of investing in her future as a professional. She has been actively
involved in a number of professional development seminars and workshops that the HSA program holds.
She recently participated in the True Colours self-assessment seminar, aimed at helping professionals
understand their own innate personal strengths and tendencies and how to recognize and respect those
qualities in others. Similar to her approach to academics, Carol earnestly pursues enrichment through
these activities, recognizing their value towards her personal and professional goals.
Based on my experience as Carols professor, I can attest to her ability to continue to excel and achieve
here at Santa Fe College. She is a confident leader willing to work hard to achieve the goals set before her.
She has been a pleasure to teach and work with over the years, and Im confident that she, a true credit to
this institution, is undeniably deserving of the great distinction of Hall of Fame.
