Collaborated with the department to develop curriculum for both the Biology and General Science
courses based on the new CCSS and NGSS standards.
Worked on the Teacher Network Coaching team funded by the SBCEO Impact Grant. Worked to
create lessons to incorporate the new one-to-one devices into the school curriculum.
Taught students with a variety of learning levels, including EL students and newcomers to the
United States. This includes planning for and teaching a specialized Biology class for a majority
of migrant students organized into cohorts designed to help them develop their language and
academic skills supported by bilingual assistants.
Visited Mt. Diablo High School with members of districts the members of the Multilingual &
Migrant Education Program to view their World Academy (a migrant program) for research
purposes in order to help further develop the migrant student programs in our school district.
Collaborated with teachers and bilingual assistants twice during professional development days
to help improve our districts Multilingual & Migrant Education Program.
Plans on completing the TIP (Teacher Induction Program) by this June 2016; currently in the
second year of the program. This will result in the possession of a Cleared Teaching Credential.

o Research Candidate for Spaceward Bound
o An expedition that focused on the extreme microbial Life in the Mojave National Preserve and its relation
to Astrobiology that was funded by CSU and NASA. The goal of this program is to provide future science
teachers experiences in field research and the exploration of extreme environments on Earth.
Collaborated with colleagues from Cal Poly SLO to create an expedition-inspired unit focused on
Astrobiology. The unit is infused with science skills that are based on the experiments performed on the
expedition. The research will eventually be published in a peer reviewed paper. Created a blog outlining
the research each day that was accessible to students and colleagues.

Hi Mountain Internship at the Condor Lookout, Pozo, CA
6/2013 to 8/2013
o Research Intern for Hi Mountain Research
o This internship Program has been monitoring Avian populations and performing vegetation surveys at 50
different plots that have been monitored for the past 10 years. Worked under the US forest service as
volunteers and were funded by the Morro Coast Audubon Society. Gained amazing field experience.
California Polytechnic University- San Luis Obispo, CA

o Co-Writer and co-researcher - Senior Project Research Paper "The Spatial Games"
o This research project was designed and carried out with Nene Ugbah over the course of six months. Our
final paper is published on the Cal Poly SLO Library Online Database. Our funding was from Cal Poly
SLO. This provided ample experience in experimental design and professional scientific writing and
practices.
Freshwater Invertebrate Research in Georgian Bay, Canada
July 2011
o Research Intern
o The research was run by Grant funding from National Geographic. The Amphibian Data was recorded
from two months of research performed in Canada was published as a research poster that was
presented in Cal Poly SLO's Research Symposium during spring quarter 2012. The research
strengthened science research understanding and knowledge.

Competitively swam from the age of 5 to 18 years old and taught swim lessons for 6 years to students from the
age of 3 to 54 years old.
