Ralph Nader said, The use of solar has not been opened up because the oil industry does
not own the sun. Acording to www.imeche.org, Humans will run out of oil in 2040. We can't
use fossil fuel forever so start using alternative energy. Fossil fuels are coal, oil and natural
gas.If we keep using fossil fuel we are destroying our planet. Acording to www.mnn.com oil
spills have killed more than 250.000 animals. By 2040 we only can make 20% of human oil
needs and also burning fossil fuel also creates pollution and carbon dioxide which are dangerous
to human beings. We need to stop our dependency on fossil fuel and use alternative energy
because fossil fuels are not renewable, it makes pollution, and creates horrific environmental
disasters.
First of all, fossil fuels are not renewable. Fossil fuel are not renewable because it will
take one milion year to create fossil fuels such as coal or oil which are made from dead plants
and animals from million years ago. Its clear we dont have time for that. We use fossil fuels in a
second but we need one milion years to make it. We are quickly using up the resources we have.
Machine and transportation that use oil and gas will stop working. Because oil is limited many
countries are fighting over it. Saudi Arabia and Russia are in an oil war. Oil is becoming rare. In
short we need to start using alternative energy before it's too late.

Secondly, burning fossil fuel makes pollution. Pollution is dangerous to human beings
and the planet. If there isnt enough oxygen to breath human and animals will become ill.
Pollution in the air, creates health problems in people like asthma, and developmental and
breathing problems in young children and the elderly. In China the pollution is so bad children
can't play outside their house and schools. In America they are trying to pass a carbon dioxide
emission taxes, that makes fossil fuels even more expensive. According to
www.theguardian.com, Air pollution kills 7 million people a year. All these deaths are because
of burning fossil fuels in factories, homes, and for transportation. Pollution is making the earth
hotter every day if we dont stop global climate change will make us all go extinct! In short we
need to stop using fossil fuel power plants and energy.
Finally, fossil fuels causes horrific environmental disasters. If we continue to burn gas,
coal, and oil the earth will increase global warming and climate change. Climate change is
changing weather patterns. Global warming will melt Antarctica's ice that causes the sea levels
increase which will drown major cities. A single oil spill can kill more than 250.000 animals. Just
because of a single oil spills it kill that much animals its madness. In Kuwait in 1991, an
estimated 520 million gallons of oil has spilled. The oil spread 160 km, luckily they can clean all
the oil. Some fossil fuel burn underground. And in Colorado a coal mine burned since 1899 until
now. 116 years and its still burning and because of toxic smoke citizen of that town in Colorado
need to be evacuated. The worst oil spill in American history was the Gulf of Mexico spill by
British Petroleum (BP). They spilled 3.19 million barrels of oil into the ocean destroying all
wildlife in their way. It took then 87 days to stop the leak. Its time to start using alternative
energy before things get worse.

Now that you know this information here's what you can do. Start using solar panels in
your house. You can also limit your energy use and buy an electric car. And you can protest to
your government and tell them to start using alternative energy.
In conclusion, we must stop our dependency on fossil fuels and start using alternative
energy. Firstly, fossil fuel are not renewable. Secondly, fossil fuel creates pollution. Finally,
burning fossil fuel causes environmental disasters. If we keep using fossil fuel we are destroying
our planet!
