Unit Overview:
Students will start the unit by completing a teacher-directed texture painting. Students will divide their canvas into 16 equal shapes and apply
dierent but specific textures to each shape, including both real textures through mediums and textures achieved with brush manipulation.
Students will then participate in a short, teacher-led painting. The teacher will walk the students through a painting demonstrating how to use
the textures in a real painting. Students will then design and paint a subject of their choice in the style of their choice incorporating at least three
of the textures studied in class. Throughout the unit students will examine works of art--particularly paintings--that employ texture.

Objective (including skills attained):

Be able to use various sizes and types of paintbrushes to achieve


desired eects.
Apply mediums to paint to enhance or change the nature of the paint.
Transfer knowledge from past ideas units and apply them to current
painting--such as color theory, shading and perspective
