The overall effectiveness of
an article is determined by its

Within the genre of scholarly
publications are different,
more specific, types of
publications and

many overlapping
conventions; however, some,
such as statistical data, is only
present in one.
Differences in conventions
exist not only from the
standpoint of content, but also
from that of structure and

One of the two main points
that I make in my argument is
that moves are a major
determinant in the overall
effectiveness of a paper.
Similar to the reasoning
behind splitting conventions
into two paragraphs, I divided
moves into two paragraphs as
well. This paragraph has the
same relation to the argument
as the previous..
Informative versus
entertaining as well as formal
versus informal both play a
part in determining
audiencecatering to the
correct audience greatly
relates to a sources
effectiveness.
If the overall effectiveness of
an article is determined by its
ability to meet its audiences
expectations, then in order for
a source to be most effective
then it must meet (if not
exceed) the expectations of
some audience, but rather its
audience.

I chose to reformat this paper quite a bit (similar to the way I did for the first). I found
that a lot of the information that I had previously included needed a bit of expansion, as well as
examples, and that much of the evidence I had initially included in my paper was not especially
strong or convincing. I tried to distinguish contextual conventions and moves from structural
ones. This not only helped those paragraphs of my paper to flow better than they originally had,
but also to add a connection to a later paragraph I have which looks at structure and purpose of
different genres. Overall, I think the revised version of my essay is significantly more clear and
fluid than my initial version.
