From Ms. Ball:

Two Patterson High School students (Javon Gholston & Michael Heier) are trying to obtain a patent for the
engineering project they designed and created. They have met w/ both a Patent Lawyer and an Attorney at Law to
discuss the process. Since they are still high school students and are in the NFTE Business Club, as well as the
way, we have been quoted $1200 for the patent processing fee. The usual cost can be anywhere from $10,000 to
$25,000.
We have approached some of our business partners, and they can help, but not in the timely manner that we need (the
fee has to be paid before we leave for the school year). Okay, at this point, you know I am asking for money, right! :)
So, if you could please see it in your hearts to donate $1 dollar, we will probably make our goal. Thank you.
Pathway: Project Lead The Way Engineering
Students: Javon Gholston & Michael Heier
Project: The Solder Puncher
NOTE: The students have been asked to present their project idea/business plan to the school board on June 9th.
From the Mindful Moment Team: The Holistic Life Foundation, the organization that has brought us the Mindful
Moment was featured in the June edition of the Yoga journal. Please feel free to check it out. Copies of the article are
available in the Mindful Moment Room and the Main Office.
Shout out to Ms. O'Brien who returned from maternity leave shining with mindfulness. She transformed her class
overnight from talking and working through the Mindful Moment to one that respects the time and allows for students
to take part in the practice, by turning off the lights and participating in the Mindful Moment herself every day. We
thank you so much for your support Ms. O'Brien and we hope that you continue to be a shining example for your
students.
Huge thank you to Ms. Holter and her art class for the beautiful paintings displayed now in the Mindful Moment room
and the colorful Mindful Moment Supporter signs that she and her class created. Your contribution has made a
significant difference in the look and feel of our room. We greatly appreciate your continued partnership and support.

More from the Mindful Moment Team:
The Mindful Moment Team will end our year at Patterson on June 5th. On this day our team will be taking
Ambassadors who have qualified, to Ocean City for the day. Our last full day in the building will be June 4th. We have
enjoyed our year and have gained tremendously from our time here. We look forward to seeing you all in the Fall.
With all of the drama that has occurred in Baltimore these last few weeks it is time to turn to Mindfulness.
Mindfulness allows individuals to not get angry about the past or get anxious about the future, but to focus on the
present moment. Its time for the city to just pause and live in the now. Its time to take a deep breath and appreciate
every second that we have!
Be happy in the moment, that's enough. Each moment is all we need, not more. ~Mother Teresa
