INDEPENDENT ALLIANCE PROTOCOL FOR ALL SUPPORTERS All supporters who are actively involved in the Alliance are requested to abide by the following; © The Alliance is an equal opportunities organisation which accepts that all people are equal regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, creed orreligion © All meetings are open to all supporters who will have the right to participate in all decision making © All views expressed will be treated with respect but once a decision has been made all supporters are expected to abide by that decisi * The content of the meetings, the views expressed, the decisions taken and the actions planned by the Alliance ate to be confidential unless a campaign meeting decides otherwise © The Alliance needs to be financially independent and to achieve this all activists who atlend meetings, all candidates and all councillors will be expected to contribute £10 per month to the campaign funds. Other supporters will be encouraged to make a £20 per year donation Supporters under the age of 18 will be encouraged to make a donation of £10 per year © Candidates will be expected to pay for their own election expenses ‘© Councillors will be expected to pay for their own regular newsletters © Candidates can apply to the campaign funds for financial support for newsletters. We are awaiting text for Whitburn and Hebbum South. Two borough wide newsletters have been produced and though there have been problems with distribution this is improving. There have also been separate newsletters for South Shields. © Council employees in the public gallery - a reply had been received from the CE, but as it was almost meaningless it was agreed to contact her again. [Jane to action] By-cleetion ‘The campaign has already begun but canvassing will start next Monday. [sce attached schedule] As well as canvassing we will be using the battle van, sending out postal vote letters, letters to all Independent voters, to all undecided voters, all those just 18 and everyone who was out during the canvass! This involves a tremendous amount of work. ‘All volunteers will be very welcome. Council Meeting ‘There will be two notices of motion at the meeting on Thursday. One on Gypsies Green and one about the Seaman's Mission, All elected members are encouraged to make a contribution in the debate. ‘The report on the memorial for troops who have served their country will be presented and closely questioned by the Alliance, We will also contact relevant organisations ourselves [Dennis to action] AOB. ‘Raffle prizes — donations for future fund raising events to be brought monthly to the campaign meetings. Letter from R. Coombes ~ it was agreed to take no further action Social — the Catholic Club are refusing to repay the £50 deposit for the cancelled event. [Ahmed to chase up]. A reminder was given that we are aiming to sell 250 tickets for the Christmas social. 2 Parliamentary candidate for Jarrow — we have stated that there will be an Independent Alliance candidate in the next general election. A discussion as to ‘who this should be took place. ¢ Monkton ~a further discussion as to the next candidate and a possible candidate for Primrose took place. Ros Slater to be invited to future meeting.
