Goal: WALT observe

and record how objects have different static and sliding friction in

todays mini-lab.

Do Now

1. Lift and gravity are balanced because there is no movement up or down.


2. Thrust and drag are unbalanced because there is forward movement.
3. The net force is forward because that is the direction of movement.
Friction: is a force caused when an object encounters resistance to motion
Static Friction: friction between two objects that prevents them from moving
Sliding Friction: slows down an object that is already moving

Lab Procedure
Place all three objects on the right side of the cover
Very slowly, open the cover of the book
Observe which object moves first
Observe which object moves second
Observe which object moves third
Repeat several times, until object more in the same order
Record your data
