HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE

COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN


PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TEXTS?

As part of my coursework I had to make a main product, a documentary,


and two auxiliary products, a double page spread and radio advert- all
about domestic violence.
The documentary had to be the opening 5 minutes and consist off
voxpops, experts, archival footage and other common features of
documentaries
The double page spread was a brief overview of what is going to be in
the documentary and says what is going to be involved
The radio advert did the same as the double page spread but we
included quotes from the documentray.

How I taregted my target audience


The Voxpops that Iused were the same age as my target audience which
meant they would listen to watthey had to say because they are the
same age. I used a picture of one of the voxpops on my magazine to
show tis.
Another way I targeted my target audience was by shooting the
documentary at the Solihull Sixth Form College. This meant that the
sudents from the college would want to see it as they got here.
A third way I have done this is by using experts to interview. This will
attract my target audience as they are professionals and people will
listen to what they have to say as they know what they are talking about.
I also selected a topic (domestic violence) that is related to this age
group as teenagers are stereotypically known as victims for domestic
violence.

Have I made a clear brand identity


I wouldnt say that I have made a clear Brand identity for my
documentary but I have used screenshots from my documentray to use
on my magazine such as the voxpops and the anonymous speaker and I
have used quotes from experts and voxpops on my radio advert.
I couldve created a recongiseable logo to use on my documentary and
magazine and used some noticeable music to use on documentary
andradio advert so when people see and here these they know straight
away were it has come from.

How well do my radio trailer and


magazine promote my documentary
I would say that my magazine and radio advert does promote my
documentary well as we have used all the same material such quotes
and images on both of them. We have clearly stated on the radio advert
when, were and what time the documentary will start-which is important.
The radio advert could be improved as the music doesnt really grab the
viewers attention but does reflect the sdaness of the documentary.
From the audience feedback, the man response was they would watch
the documentray after listening to the radio trailer which menat that I
didwell promoting it.

Voxpops- I used the same voxpop throughout all 3 wetaher it be a picture, voice
or recording
Quotes- I used the responces from my experts in the magazine and radio advert
as I felt they were important
Date, time and channel- we had to include this so then our viewers knew when
to watch it
Documentary and magazine
Images- I took screenshots from the documentary to include in my magazine to
show what will be in it
Colour scheme- we used the colour red as it symbolizes blood and gives off a
strong message
Documentary and radio advert
Music- the same music and sound effects were used In these as they create
effect for the topic, which is sadness
