Ethics has two distinct concepts with its name.

The first is referred to

ethical systems and according to Grassian (1992) it is based on the moral
responsibility (Breit, 2002, 308). The second concept, in fact is more
common in ordinary language as underlined by Chomsky (2007, 309), is
referred to the procedures considering legal and moral good in a given
professional field. In this sense, he is referring to the scope of the
profession to determine what is right and wrong to do. Ethics are generally
codified into a formal system which is unambiguously adopted by people
at large. The main difference between morality and professional ethics is
that ethics tend to be internally defined and implemented, whereas
morals tend to be externally adopted by personnel.
Today one can safely say that there are no fields of human activity which
are left out of the ethical analysis. Ethical thought has long been in the
centre of discussion in academic reflection and professionalism. The
reality of communication professionals, and journalists in particular, have
an enormous power in the construction of public reasoning and although
the degree of this can be the target of several interpretations, it could be
safely said that political communication, corporate communication,
financial communication strategies or lobbying contribute no doubt in
shaping the contemporary society. The media and professional ethics
constitute a whole new way to reflect upon moral obligations as well as to
recommend control mechanisms.
