About Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo was born on 5 February 1985 in Madeira, Portugal. Ronaldo was named after
former American president and actor, Ronald Reagan. He possesses incredible pace and trickery
as well as unbelievable dribbling and shooting ability. With scoring figures that can only be
rivalled by Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo is considered to be one of the greatest footballers of
all time.
Ronaldo joined Sportings academy in 1997. Working his way up the ranks, he became the only
player to have ever played for Sportings U16, U17, U18, B and senior teams all within a single
season. Ronaldo scored a brace on his league debut in 2002. In a pre-season friendly against
Manchester United, Ronaldo caught the eye of United manager, Alex Ferguson, who signed the
player soon after for a fee of 12 million.
Ronaldos career took off at Manchester United, as he set the Premier League alight. He went on
to score 118 goals for the club in 292 appearances. During his time at United, Ronaldo won three
Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cup trophies, two Community Shields, the FIFA
Club World Cup and the coveted UEFA Champions League in 2007-2008. At the end of the
season Ronaldo was awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year, an award he would win again in
2013 and 2014.
On 1 July 2009, Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid for a fee of 80 million, making him the most
expensive footballer in history. Since joining the club, Ronaldo has been the main man. He has
scored over 300 goals at a rate of more than a goal a game. His best season came in 2014-15,
when he netted 61 times in 54 games. Ronaldo has won seven trophies since joining the club,
including La Decima, Real Madrids tenth European Cup. In 2015, became the club's all-time
leading goalscorer.
Ronaldo made his Portugal debut in 2003 and has scored more than half a century of goals for
the national team, making him the countrys all-time leading goal scorer.
