KEY STRENGTHS

Extensive Visual Arts experience
In addition to my Visual Arts degree, I have been developing my practical skills for a number of years. Starting
originally with printmaking, I have expanded my focus to include ceramics and photography. I have utilised my
ceramics skills to establish a small online business, which can be viewed via:
www.peainapodceramics.weebly.com
As well as my specific interest in ceramics, I have considerable experience in a variety of mediums, including:
Ceramics
Hand building
Mould making
Glazing
Slip casting
Surface decoration

Printmaking
Relief (lino, woodcut)
Reduction (multi-colour)
Intaglio (etching, drypoint)
Screenprinting

Contour (blind)
Digital Illustration

ICT teaching skills

I have considerable experience in utilising social media platforms such as Edmodo, Twitter and Pinterest for
building classroom collaboration, and have used Google Docs for cooperative research tasks. I have utilised my
visual design and teaching skills to build Weebly websites for specific units of work (see for example
www.year10publicart.weebly.com, designed for my Year 10 class at The Hills Grammar School). I am also
confident in my ability to utilise mobile learning tools, such as iPads, laptops and phones, within the classroom
as appropriate. I endeavour to continue to expand my knowledge of creative uses and forms of technology to
engage students in the classroom.

Excellent communication skills
My ability to communicate ideas and to motivate and lead others is proven by my excellent teaching placement
feedback, as well as my ability to work well with other students and fellow artisans. My professional
relationship with teachers and students during my placements was marked by a warm rapport, and I look
forward to further opportunities both to teach and to work cooperatively with colleagues. Additionally, I have a
long history of work in retail and hospitality environments, where I have developed excellent relationships
with supervisors, colleagues and customers.

Commitment to ongoing learning
Since finishing high school I have actively sought to continue my education, both through full time tertiary
study as well as undertaking ongoing training and skill development. In particular, I have studied ceramics for a
number of years at Ceramic Haven, and recently completed additional ceramic training in slip casting and
mould-making, during a five-month ceramics internship in the Netherlands in 2015. My strong desire to
continue to learn and enhance my skills is a strength that will be an asset both in teaching and in my continued
development as an artist. I am committed to building on my knowledge of art, and welcome the opportunity to
work with other artisans to gain new skills within a wide variety of mediums. I seek to maintain a strong
affinity with art education, with a goal of sharing my knowledge of art-making techniques and skills.
