Peyton Elementary, Peyton, Colorado - Teacher (First Grade, INR) January, 2011 May,
2011- Create lesson plans using Harcourt Literacy Basal, Scott Foresman Math, Rebecca Sitton
Spelling, Shurley Grammar, and self-designed supplemental curriculum to assure teaching
meets and/or exceeds state standards. Assess students regularly using NWEA, DIBELS, and
other various data to assure student needs are met and that each student makes growth.
Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning, Falcon, Colorado - Teacher (Kindergarten,
INR October, 2009 May, 2010, Combo 3/4 May, 2010 December, 2010) - Instruct
students using self-designed curriculum for literacy and writing. Combined Step-up-to-Writing
with Six traits of Writing to supplement lessons. Instructed Fourth Grade Math using Saxon
Math curriculum and supplementing as necessary. Applied Expedition to all subjects in the
elementary classroom. Coordinated fieldwork to apply student knowledge/assignments to the
outside world. Used NWEA, DIBELS, and Adams 50 assessments to assure each student was
making growth and that differentiated instruction was working to meet each students needs.
Frontier Charter Academy, Calhan, Colorado - Teacher (Kindergarten) August, 2007
May, 2009 - Instruct Kindergarten students using a majority of self-designed curriculum and
lesson plans. Used the following curriculum when available and applicable to standards: Core
Knowledge, Spalding Language Arts, and Everyday Math. Designed curriculum to meet the
academic, intellectual, and social needs of each student. Implemented Character Education to
develop life skills in each student. Created assessments for progress monitoring in addition to
using NWEA and DIBELS assessments. Communicated regularly with parents to discuss
student progress.
