It is 26th day of January 2016 and this is the day of our local demonstration in our
cooperating school which is San Ignacio Elementary School. When I arrived in the school I
eventually go to the Grade II classroom to prepare the things that I will use in my demonstration.
During the demonstration there are five observers, three teachers from San Ignacio
Elementary School and two from our school. The first demonstrator is Miss Angelica Burias, so
while she is demonstrating I and my co-students assist in giving water and candies to the
teachers.
I start my class with a simple prayer, then followed by a drill about multiplication and a
review. My lesson for today is all about reading and writing time using analog clock. In my
discussion I use real analog clock and an improvise one. In my demonstration, l also use a
PowerPoint presentation. But when I'm was in the evaluation part of my lesson plan, the power
was lost and the big problem is my evaluation for my students is in a PowerPoint presentation.
As what I've learned, teacher should be flexible and should adopt in different situation in a
classroom, so I decided not to show that I'm panicking instead I write it on the board and dictate
my evaluation. In God's grace I finished my lesson even if there's is a problem arise.
The third demonstrator is Miss Mildred Endaya and it was followed by Miss Arlyn
Oliverio. After our demonstration, we went to the office together with teachers and our
cooperating teachers for the conference. In that conference every teachers will give their
comment and advice regarding of our demonstration that will really help us improve our teaching
skills. According to them one of my strength is my patience and attitude towards teaching, which
is even if my students are so naughty and noisy still the smile in my face was not lost.
In that conference, hearing all the comments and advice to me and to my co-fs students I
learned lots of things. I learned that in teaching we need to be cultured-based. Also if we use a
PowerPoint presentation in our discussion make sure that you prepared a backup like a visual aid
and manila paper so even if the power were lost you have still continue your lesson without any
worries. They also told us that before we start our discussion make sure that all the things that we
need to use is already prepare so our discussion will be continues without any problem. Also we
learned that when we give a group activity make sure that every group will have different task to
do.
This day is a very tiring day, but all of the hard work we have done is worth it. Not only
because we are done in our demonstration which is one of the requirements for our Field Study
courses but also because in only one day of experience we have lots of things that we have
learned from making lesson plan to the execution of it which is big help in our future career.
