Why have a partnership?


Benets for collaboraDvely developing the
next generaDon of teachers;
Improving consistency of the assessment of
pre-service teachers;

developing next generaDon of teachers.

Why have a partnership cont.


Government shiQs TEMAG Report in 2014, this
partnership aims to meet the following recommendaDons:

deliver integrated and structured professional experience
throughout iniDal teacher educaDon programs through
formalised partnership agreements with schools.
guarantee that sucient placements of appropriate
Dming and length are available for all pre-service
teachers.
ensure pre-service teachers have early opportuniDes to
assess their suitability for teaching, including through
exposure to the classroom.

Systems/schools be required to use the Australian
Professional Standards for Teachers in idenDfying highly
skilled teachers to supervise professional experience,
and work with higher educaDon providers to ensure
rigorous, iteraDve and agreed assessment of pre-service
teachers.
School leaders acDvely lead the integraDon of pre-service
teachers in the acDviDes and culture of their school.
Higher educaDon providers and schools work together to
assist pre-service teachers to develop and collect
sophisDcated evidence of their teaching ability and their
impact on student learning for their Por]olio of
Evidence.

What does this partnership


with ACU look like?
On the ground support with PSTs for the following
acDviDes:
1. Support with assessment of PSTs

a`end professional conversaDon meeDngs at mid-point


and end-point (pilot approach in 2016)
AddiDonal support if you have an At risk PST
Assistance with queries about summaDve assessment
Can observe PST classes if requested for addiDonal
support

2. Support with nominated acDon research projects


Support with developing sta understandings of the
processes of acDon research

What does this partnership with ACU


look like?
7. ACU will provide accredited Mentoring Training

4 modules of 3 hours, which can be delivered in any
conguraDon (eg. 1 full day and two aQernoons)
12 hours face to face, receive a cerDcate that meets AITSL
accomplished teacher standard 6.
AddiDonal opDonal online assessment component available,
which upon successful compleDon gives credit to a Masters
unit at ACU.
