Psi State Delta Hostel 2016

From Thomasvilles Rose City, home of plantations and the Big Oak tree to
Colquitts Mural City, home of Swamp Gravy and may haw jelly, Southwest
Georgia beckoned seventy-four Delta Kappa Gamma sisters from Psi State
Georgia to experience a weekend of history, artistic, and musical expression, love
and sisterly fellowship at the biennial event affectionately termed Delta Hostel.
Robin Shaver, Jan Westberg, Annette James, Deborah Fiveash, Lisa Gilligan, and
Susan Thompson were in attendance from our local Alpha Delta chapter of Delta
Kappa Gamma.
The jam-packed weekend started Friday, March 11 th at Jonahs Fish & Grits,
and then traveled to the Thomas County History Museum for an informative
presentation about the history of Thomasville. Saturday morning began at Pebble
Hill Plantation with a guided tour of the Main House, a video and tour of the
grounds, and a wonderful picnic lunch. The group then traveled to Colquitt for a
guided mural tour of the lovely murals in that Mural City and then enjoyed the
Swamp Gravy presentation of Order in the Court. This folk-life play of Georgia
has entertained visitors for 25 years! After this exciting blend of comedy, drama,
and music, the group enjoyed a delectable prime rib, shrimp, and all the trimmings
dinner buffet at Moby Dicks near Colquitt. The culmination of the weekend was
on Sunday morning when the group gathered around the massive 335 year old Big
Oak for Sunday morning devotions and music. It was indeed a weekend filled with
history, artistic/musical expression, Sisterly fellowship, and lifelong memories.
