Warm up (Approx 5 minutes)

The warm up will be simple. Just a slight pulse raise, get the muscles
warm and get the participants active. I am going to get the participants to
run around half of the football pitch a couple of time, while I set up the
first activity. After the run I will gather the participants together in a circle
to go through the stretches. I will ask each and everyone to step into the
middle and do one stretch, where everyone will do that at the same time. I
will start it off. Afterwards some people might need to stretch something
that others dont so Ill give them a couple of minutes to stretch anything
that hasnt been covered or what they need to stretch more. Each stretch
should be held for approximately 8-10 seconds.
First Activity (Approx 8 minutes)
Set Up:
3 groups of 7, 2 defend and the other 5 needs to keep the ball between
them without the 2 defenders intercepting the ball (15 meters by 10
meters).
First defender puts pressure and channels.
Second defender directs and supports/covers.

Conditions:
If the defenders do not succeed, the attacking players must use a
minimum of 2 touches.

Coaching Points:
Avoid passes going through the two defenders.
Communicate with each other to make a fast decision, who presses and
who supports/covers. First defender delays, denies space and channel
attacker.
Second defender supports/covers and directs first defender in choice of
channel and amount of pressure.

Second Activity (Approx 8 minutes)

2v2 drill set up:
Mark out two channels (25 meters by 20 meters), have 3 teams of 5 and 1
team of 6. To start the drill, one of the players A plays a pass to players B,
Players A becomes the defenders and players B becomes the attacking
players. Player B tries to dribble the ball across the line protected by
players A.
In the beginning the attacking players must pass the ball between each
other a couple of times before they try and go past the defenders.
Progression: The attacking players are allowed to try and pass the
defenders directly.
Coaching points: Both defenders position themselves in relation to goal
(line). The first defenders body position channel opponent, isolate first
attacker. Second defender place themselves in position depending on the
success of the first defenders attempt to channel the attacker. If first
defender is successful, second defender supports, otherwise she covers.
Second defender be aware of second attackers position.

Third activity (Approx 8 minutes)

1v1 drill
Set Up:
Use the sideline for marking out the area.
Player B plays a pass to player A, Player A dribbles the ball to the centre
box, player B defends the centre box, the object of the practice is to
channel player A, out of the box.
Change side on attacker and defender after 10 minutes
Progression:
Increase speed, attacking player should increase to game speed.
Coaching Points:
As in 1v1 drill.
Channel over the sideline.
Ensure good strike on the ball from passer and movement towards the ball
when receiving it.

Fourth activity (Approx 8 minutes)

Set up: Mark out a 30x10 pitch. Two goals, participants will be split into 1
team of 10 and one of 11. The teams will start in the corner but each team
member will need to number themselves 1-11. The team with 10 one
person has to have two numbers. When I call out a number the number I
call out have to run the opposite side and then turn onto the pitch where I
will have already laid off a ball in the middle. The two players have to try
and score in the goal opposite them before the other one does. If the ball
goes out then play stops.
Progression: I can call two numbers at once, three numbers, and then
gradually everyone.
Coaching tips: They will use the technique used in the 1v1 and 2v2 drills.
It takes it into a competitive situation and makes it fun as well. Make sure
that you use a bit of skill to beat the man/woman.
Cool down (Approx 5 minutes)
This will just be running around in the goal keepers area. Just light jogs to
cool down nothing to hard. Jog for a couple of minutes and then we will
stretch off properly around the D.
