PROMPT 1

Students will receive school IDs with tracking devices on April 2 in an attempt to
reduce truancies.
After the word got out about having the school IDs with the tracking device. Some
of the students were frustrated about having these Prison trackers.
Prisoners are tracked, Junior Becca Romero said. I am a student without a
single discipline referral, not a prisoner. These new Ids? Plus, if I want to skip I would
simply take off the ID. I am sure every student can figure that one out.
But other students had a very different reaction for example, some of the students
actually didnt mind the school IDs. They thought it would be a smart idea of having it.
I dont understand all of the complaint, senior and student council president Nina
Truman said. Students are at school to learn. If they are not in class they cant learn. I
tried to meet with my assistant principal three times this year, and each time, the AP was
too busy dealing with truant students to help me. These tracking IDs will cut down on
skippers and give the APs time to do their job. The student council voted 121 to 12 to
support this new initiative.
On April 2, all students will be issued a new school ID with the new tracking device.
Now, after Oscar Redman found this out he was satisfied with the whole thing.
I was happy to donate the money for these news IDs, Oscar Redman, parent and
owner of Redman Construction said. My children attend Leaguetown schools, and this is
a great. Parents should embrace this new safety measure, not fight it.

This is a blatant violation of my sons privacy rights, parent Don Cantrel said. He
doesn't want someone monitoring him at all times. No child in the United States should be
tagged or tracked. We want it stopped. out children are not a piece of inventory. This monitoring
of our children is comparable to the tracking of cattle or very dangerous criminals in
high-security prisons. Tracking our children breaches their right to privacy and dignity as
humans.
After hearing all the students and parents complaints, they still did what they thought was
best for the school. All the staffs and also the district thought it was a brilliant idea.
We hope to expand the program to the middle and elementary schools next year. A few
parents are upset. Yes, i know. And yes, i know they are talking with ACLU. But until a judge
says we cant have the IDs, we are mining forward, Superintendent Patti Man said. This new
ID will increase our attendance, which will increase our fur funding. The tracking device has
200-yard range around the school. We cant track the students outside of the school. How are we
violating students privacy rights?
