Appliance Fuel Connector - assembly of listed semi-rigid or flexible tubing and


fittings to carry fuel bet. a fuel-piping outlet and a fuel burning appliance
Fuel Gas- Natural, manufactured, liquefied petroleum or a mixture of these
Gas Piping- any installation of pipe, valves, or fittings that is used to convey fuel
gas, installed on any premises or in any but shall not include:
*any portion of the service piping
*any approved piping connection six feet (1,829mm) or less in length
between an existing gas
outlet and a gas appliance in the same room with the outlet
Gas Piping System- any arrangement of gas piping supplied by one meter and each
arrangement of gas piping serving a building, structure, or premises, whether
individually metered or not
Service Piping- The piping and equipment between the street gas main and the gas
piping system inlet that is installed by and is under the control and maintenance of
the serving gas supplier
Transition Gas Riser- any listed or approved section or sections of pipe and fittings
used to convey fuel gas and installed in a gas piping system for the purpose of
providing a transition from below the ground to above the ground
Earthquake actuated Gas Shutoff Valve- a valve to be installed in a gas piping
system designed to automoatically shut off the gas when a seismic disturbance is
detected
Copper and brass pipe shall not be used if the gas contains more than an average of
0.3 grains of hydrogen sulfide per 100scf of gas (0.7mg/100L)
Threaded copper, brass or aluminum alloy pipe shall not be used with gases
corrosive to such material
Copper and brass tubing shall not be used if the gas, contains more than an
average of 0.3g of hydrogen sulfide per 100scf of gas (0.7mg/100L)
Copper tubing shall comply with standard type K or L of ASTM B 88
Brazing alloys shall not contain more than 0.05 percent phosphorus
Gas meters shall be located at least 3 feet (0.9m) from sources of ignition
Longest Length Method- the pipe size of each section of gas piping shall be
determined using the longest length of piping from the point of delivery to the most
remote outlet and the load of the section
