Elementary Literacy
Task 1: Context for Learning Information
[ We are currently tracking three of our students who are below-level in their reading scores.
We give the three of them the Approaching-Level reading assessments from the Wonders
online resources and we meet with them every Tuesday and Thursday to work with them on
building up their vocabulary, comprehension strategies, and recall memory. ]
3. Identify any textbook or instructional program you primarily use for literacy instruction. If a
textbook, please provide the title, publisher, and date of publication.
[Webling Elementary uses Wonders and the publisher is McGraw Hill ]
4. List other resources (e.g., electronic whiteboard, classroom library or other text sets, online
professional resources) you use for literacy instruction in this class.
[Other resources that the classroom uses for literacy instruction are Six Traits of Writing,
Writers Workshop, and Step Up to Writing, which are all used as resources on a supplementary
basis. Some other texts that my mentor teacher pulls from is Ralph Fletcher, Lucy Calkins,
Stephany Harvey, and Katy Woodray ]
