Q10: Please enter general comments below related to your observations.

I observed Ms. Allen teaching a whole group reading lesson to 22 third-grade students. The lesson topic was "Making
Predictions in Non-Fiction Text." Ms. Allen reviewed previous learning, and allowed students to share predictions. She
read aloud, paused for think-pair-share, and had students complete a mini-booklet.
Q11: What went well:
Sierra fostered student participation through the incorporation of think/pair/share and the mini-book activity.

Q12: What could be done differently:

Be sure to model your thinking as you have specified in your plan. Plan your work and work your plan.
Q13: Candidate's strengths:
Instruction was relaxed and assured. Students were adequately engaged and involved throughout the reading lesson.
Q14: Areas that need refinement:
When questioning students, ask them to support their responses (e.g. "How did you know?" "Give examples." "Why did
you say that?").
Q15: Focus for next observation:
I will focus on math instruction (either small group or whole group). I would like to see a transition from one activity to
the next, and will look for Ms. Allen to have students support their responses.
