Within months of working as a receptionist, I proved myself in this role and was promoted to Executive Assistant to the
President and General Manager. I had the honour of assisting in the design/build of the 288,000 square foot centre. This
experience included sourcing and purchasing furniture, fixtures and equipment, securing and maintaining relationships
vendors for all areas of building operations, securing building naming sponsorships, creating and implementing building
move-in and service installation schedule, hosting FAM events (including set-up and dcor). Additionally, I managed the
Presidents schedule, travel arrangements, attended Board of Directors Meetings, and prepared all necessary
documents. I acted as the liaison between potential and existing SCCN clients and guests, our community and all
departments of the facility and the Presidents office.

I acted as liaison between meeting professionals, customers and all operating departments to ensure a high standard of
organizational and guest services throughout all convention and conference meeting areas. Responsible for planning,
organizing and controlling events, including preparing / following event resumes and scaled drawings of event areas,
coordinating equipment distribution and working throughout the event. My duties include all event coordination tasks
from time of booking through to event conclusion / load out. The nature of these events ranged from small meetings,
weddings, and social events, to corporate events encompassing the utilization of the entire building/space of the SCCN.
2005 - 2009
I worked alongside a Certified General Accountant providing bookkeeping, data entry, customer service, and reception
duties for a small but very busy accounting firm. Prepared statements of account, bank, and reconciliation, journal and
general ledger postings, prepared and filed income tax returns on behalf of clients to the Canada Revenue Agency.
1999 - 2002
Purchased, merchandised, and sold vintage clothing in a retail store of my own creation. It was essential to develop
strong local business relationships, which I was successful in doing. My business excelled through an ability to hand
select items of clothing based on customers needs. I devised marketing strategies; i.e.: art walk, movie crew discounts,
free gallery wall space. I maintained all inventory, sales, and expenditure records.
1992-1998
Answered a busy switchboard and greeted all visiting clients, while providing assistance and training to all new
employees. Prepared all sales and marketing materials, customer quotes, and general correspondence. Coordinated
company functions such as FAM events, customer appreciation events, receptions, company boat cruise. Instrumental
in devising and implementing the University Affinity Sales Program; providing long distance phone service for students
whilst offering fundraising opportunities for schools. As Corporate Account Manager, the primary objective was selling
new products / services to our existing client base, business expansion, and provision of excellent customer service to
ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
