OBJECTIVES:
Students will be able to name and recall important features of a
map.
Students will be able to identify geographic characteristics of a
region.
Students will be able to identify and describe different
characteristics of cultures and communities.
Students will be able to incorporate technology successfully into
their learning in order to find the answers to the questions.
Students will be able to familiarize themselves with QR codes
and successfully scan a QR code in order to pull up a link.

3. Determine how you want students to proceed through the QR

code hunt and what they are to do with the information or
what they are to do at each clue. Describe your method here:
Students will be split up into pairs and each pair will be given an IPod with a
QR code scanner and an internet connection on it. Each pair will also be
given a sheet of the following 10 questions without answers and a pencil. I
will begin by introducing the children to QR codes and showing them how
they are used and describing the activity that we are going to do to them.
For a warm-up, I will put the first QR code up on the board for all of the

students to have a chance to scan. One partner will scan the QR code, and
when they have done so successfully they will hand the IPod to the other
partner so he/she can complete a successful try as well. When they go the
link for the first QR code they will find the answer to the first question and
they must write that down on their sheet. Once all students have scanned
the QR code successfully, I will explain to them that there are 9 other QR
codes hidden around the school and it is their mission to find them. The QR
code takes the student to the answer to the question, so they will have to
match the answers the QR codes give them to the questions. The first team
to match all 10 questions with their correct answers using the QR codes
wins! This will be a great wrap up review for my third grade students to help
them remember some basics about third grade social studies and geography
and what we have learned in class so far.
4. Write at least 10 questions or prompts (see table below):
