Definition of Terms

Academic Achievement the outcome of the education; extent to which a student,


teacher or institution has achieved their educational goals.
Cainta Catholic College a tertiary institution that build the knowledge of the students
in terms of religious.
Critical Literacy requires the ability and willingness to look beyond the literal
meaning of text to observe, what is presented and what is missing, in order to analyze
and evaluate the meaning of the authors intent.
English the study of the language itself, its correct usage and origins.
Grade 4 refers to the selected pupils at Cainta Catholic College.
Habits of Mind necessary for higher-order thinking (Open-mindedness, curiosity, and
dependent thinking)
Metacognition the process of thinking about ones own thought processes.
Motivation act or process of giving someone a reason for doing something;
Pupils learning under the close supervision of a teacher at school.
Relationship the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are
connected, or the state of being connected.
Retention the fact of keeping something in ones memory.
Teaching Strategies refers to methods used to help students learn the desired
course content and be able to develop achievable goals in the future.
