God opened a way for Nephi to get the

brass plates for their family. Lehi and

Sariah were glad to see their sons again.

brass plates in the Book of Mormon in
First Nephi, chapters three through five.
As you read the story ask yourself:
Did Nephi know how he was going to
get the brass plates when he went back
to Jerusalem?
Why was Nephi so sure they could get
the brass plates from Laban?
Where can we read what was on the
brass plates?
Will Heavenly Father help us today?

Their next idea was to try buying the

plates from Laban. He decided instead
to steal their stuff then try to kill them.

When Laman asked Laban for the plates

Laban said, No way, you robber! and
sent his men to kill Laman.

I will go and do the things

which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the
Lord giveth no commandments
unto the children of men, save
he shall prepare a way for them
that they may accomplish the
thing which he commandeth
them. (1 Nephi 3:7)

Laman escaped back to his brothers. Nephi told them to have more faith in the
Lord so they could get the brass plates.

Nephi and his three big brothers, Laman,

Lemuel and Sam, traveled back to Jersalem to get the brass plates from Laban.

Laman and Lemuel were so discouraged

they beat up Sam and Nephi with sticks.
An angel came to tell them to cut it out.

Lehi told his family what was written on

the brass plates then packed them away
for their journey to the promised land.

Nephi Gets the Brass Plates

Lehi told his son, Nephi, to go back to

Jerusalem with his brothers and get the
brass plates from a man named Laban.

The brass plates were important records

written in their language that contained
the word of God and their genealogy.

Nephi wanted to obey the Lord. He knew

the Lord would help him and his brothers somehow get the brass plates from
Laban. He told his father that he would
go because God would help them get
the plates:
