Divine Mercy Messages Part 3 of 3
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy (Mt 5:7).
Our Lords words to St. Faustina about this
requirement to be merciful are very strong and
leave no room for misinterpretation:
!
Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the
Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of
mercy. ...I demand from you deeds of mercy,
which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to
show mercy to your neighbors always and
everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try
to excuse or absolve yourself from it. I am giving
you three ways of exercising mercy toward your
neighbor: the first by deed, the second by word,
the third by prayer. In these three degrees is
contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an
unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this
means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My
mercy (Diary 742).
It means taking time to give needed correction,
even discipline, especially to children whose
minds are impressionable and whose wills are not
yet steadfast in truth. It means taking time to out
help out a child with homework, showing the
ropes to someone new at work, reminding oneself
and ones family about basic morality. It implies
something more loving, to counsel doubts about
ones faith, about abortion, marriage, or death or
divorce. Maintain patience with those who never
say a kind word, with those whose nagging puts
your teeth on edge. Have patience with your own
personal pain and suffering, dont add to the
griping around you. Forgive the sharp criticism,
the angry retort so easily and thoughtlessly said.
Physical injuries heal faster than mental or
spiritual ones. All people, dead or alive, benefit
from a remembrance in prayer, including those
praying.
Information from Deeds of Mercy: a new look at the works
of mercy pamphlet and The Divine Mercy: Message and
Devotion booklet from the 1994 Marians Fathers of the
Immaculate Conception of the BVM.

Spiritual works of
mercy are:
Admonish sinners

doubtful

sorrowful

patiently
Forgive offenses
Pray for the living
and the dead

Corporal works of
mercy are:
Feed the hungry,
Give drink to the
thirsty
Clothe the naked
Shelter the homeless
Comfort the
imprisoned
Visit the sick
Bury the dead

The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy

Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of
sins and punishment. On that day are opened all the
divine floodgates through which graces flow. Let no
soul fear to drew near to Me, even though its sins be
as scarlet. (Diary 699).
To celebrate the Divine Mercy Sunday Feast day
we should:
1. Attend mass on the Sunday after Easter
2. Sincerely repent of all our sins;
3. Place our complete trust in Jesus;
4. Go to Confession, within 20 days before or after;
5. Receive Holy Communion on the day of the
Feast, or a couple of days before or after;
6. Venerate* the Image of Divine Mercy
7. Be merciful to others, through our actions,
words, and prayers on their behalf
*To venerate a sacred image or statue simply means to
perform some act, like bowing, or make some gesture
of deep religious respect towards it because of the
person whom it represents -- in this case, our Most
Merciful Savior.
