What Standards (national

lesson?
(You should include ALL
applicable standards. Rarely
do teachers use just one:
theyd never get through
them all.)
Objectives- What are you
teaching?
(Student-centered: What will
students know and be able to
do after this lesson? Include
the ABCDs of objectives:
action, behavior, condition,
and degree of mastery, i.e.,
"C: Given a sentence written
in the past or present tense,
A: the student B: will be able
to re-write the sentence in
future tense D: with no errors
in tense or tense contradiction
(i.e., I will see her
yesterday.)."
Note: Degree of mastery does
not need to be a percentage.)
Evaluation Plan- How will
SC.3.L.14.1: Describe structures in plants and their roles in food production, support, water and
nutrient transport, and reproduction (CPALMS)
SC.3.L.14.2: Investigate and describe how plants respond to stimuli (heat, light, gravity), such as the
way plant stems grow toward light and their roots grow downward in response to gravity (CPALMS)
Students will understand how different forces affect plant growth and review different
parts of plants.
Formative: I will be asking plenty of questions, and we will also be walking around the

Summative: Students will have a paper they will be taking notes on throughout the
lesson, and reacting to different prompts.
Step-by-Step Plan
(What exactly do you plan to
do in teaching this lesson? Be
thorough. Act as if you needed
a substitute to carry out the
lesson for you.)

Explain: Students will be taken written notes of what they see and
what they think.
Extend: Students will have to think of a previous science experiment
that failed.
Evaluation: Students will turn in the piece of paper with their notes
and ideas.
If applicable, how does this lesson connect to the interests and cultural
backgrounds of your students?
Students will get to see time-lapsed photos which is something that should
interest students, while also given plenty of time to express their own ideas.
Differentiationbased on
the needs of your students
how will you take
individual and group
learning differences into
account.
I will allow time for students to partner talk and whole group talk.
