Decription:
Objective:
I wanted to appeal to those looking for someone who knows what theyre doing with
makeup. I wanted to communicate with them both visually and written of the work the
makeup artist has done.
Process:
The first step I took was designing my logo in Adobe Illustrator. I wanted my logo to
have a modern feel to it, so I came up with the idea of the repeating circles. I chose a
font I felt had a similar vibe. I used to shape tool to make the circle and then held down
the option button to repeat the same size circle. I learned how to import fonts into the
adobe programs and used them to create the text. I then took the line tool and created
the line under the makeup artists name.
The next step was setting up the brochure in Adobe InDesign. I wanted a tri-fold, so I
used the ruler tool to insure I had the measurements right. After I placed the rulers on
my design, I found the images I wanted to use and imported them into the design. I
edited more of them in Photoshop and added a cool-colored filter to them to better
match the colors of my brochure. I added shapes through using the pen tool and lowered the opacity to have a more modern effect.
To style the paragraphs, I created a paragraph style. I set the style to have no hyphens,
be specific font, size, and spacing. After creating it I applied it to my body copy. I then
made some headings to add hierarchy to the text. I had the text wrap around these
headings. I took a photo in Photoshop and cut out the background. After doing so, I
then text wraped my text around the photo.
Business Card
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Class: COMM130-07
Date: February 25, 2016
Programs Used:
Description:
Objective:
I wanted to represent the company by creating business card that says what the
company is.
Process:
I worked in Adobe Illustrator to create the logo. After creating the logo, I worked in
InDesign to create the business card.
To create the cocoa bean logo, I made half of a shape and then flipped and copied the
half shape to create a whole (i.e. the cocoa bean icon). I
applied contrast by making Cocoa thinner and making Bean more bold.

I took the cocoa bean and placed it to the right of the page and increased the opacity to
5%. I then took the cocoa bean text and logo and placed in the top left corner.

Description:
Objective:
I wanted to advertise a fundraiser going on for the childrens hospital that showcases the
fact that it is a family event.
Process:
I scanned an imagine that fit with my overall message. I then chose a color scheme based
off my audience and the image. I sketched and created possible layouts and then
created a draft. I made the childrens hospital and the date & time stick out the most
and played with shape and alignment.
Flier
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Class: COMM130-7
Date: January 24, 2016
Programs Used:
Adobe InDesign
Description:
Objective:
I chose to aim this poster at students who are just about to graduate.
Process:
The first thing I did was sketch four possible designs for the flier. I paid attention to
what I wanted the focus to be and made sure to add design elements, such as contrast,
white space, and shape. I then chose which design I wanted to make. I created my flier
using Adobe InDesign. I chose to add the shapes runnin down the left side to direct the
eyes to the important information.

Process:
I created my web page using TextWrangler. I have never worked with anything HTML/CSS
before. It was cool to see and try different things to change the way the page appeared.
I attached my CSS filed to my HTML. I used the eyedropper tool in Photoshop to match
colors from my logo to my webpage. I increased the text background opacity. I removed
the rounded corners and then got rid of the thin line around the body.

Date: February 20, 2016
Programs Used: Abobe Illustrator.
Description:
Objective:
Process:
I sketched out designs that fit with the audience I was aiming my message at. I then
took my sketches and made three different logo designs. I had the logos critiqued and
voted on. I took the two logos with the most votes and combined both design
elements. After choosing my final logo, I designed that logo in three different ways.
One was in the analogous, black and white, and white with a color background. I did all
my designing in Adobe Illustrator.

I found two images that went together (lighting, color scheme, etc.) and opened them

Description:
Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills. Incorporating color into a
poster layout with original photo.
Objective:
Process:
I set up a photoshoot using props and different locations. I shot each photo with a
Cannon camera borrowed from the library. I planned out the color scheme and took the
photos. I then used one of the photos taken to create this poster. I brought in design
elements that went along with my choosen color scheme. I edited the photo to better
match my color scheme. Both the photo editing and the flier was done using Photoshop.
