I Have A Dream
Sunday
April10th

Asmostofyouknow,AllSaints,Vista,
is what the Diocese of San Diego desig
natesaMissionActionParish.Thatmeans
that while we remain a parish church, we
also function as a mission congregation in
manyofthewayswerelatetothediocese.
A key part of this designation is formulat
ing a plan to be implemented over the
nextthreeyearswhichwouldserveasour
road map to greater health and self
sufficiency.
When planning a journey, it usually
helps to ask Where do we want to go?,
before mapping out how to get there. So,
thinking of the congregation of All Saints

youwanttogo?(Cont.onp.2)

Calendar of Saints
intheEpiscopalChurch

One can find the Episcopal

Churchs Calendar of Saints in the
front of the BookofCommonPrayer,
and in the book Lesser Feasts and
Fasts. Observances related to the
Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph,
Mary Magdalene, and the Apostles
are considered MajorFeasts, and on
the Prayer Book Calendar are
printed in bold type. Observances
related to most other holy men and
womenareconsideredLesserFeasts.
Sofarasitispossible,peopleare
commemorated on the calendar
accordingtothedateofdeaththe
day they entered into the nearer
presence of God. So, in the Episco
palChurch,theprimarydateassoci
atedwithMartinLutherKing,Jr.,is
April4th(althoughwehaveJanuary
15th as an alternate because of the
culturalpopularityofcelebratinghis
birthday.)
In2016you will not find Martin
Luther King, Jr. on the calendar be
causeApril4thhasbeenassignedto
the Annunciation. Isnt that March
25th?!?! Yes, but not in 2016, as
March25thwasGoodFriday.
The rules that govern this mov
ing of dates may be found on page
17 of the Book of Common Prayer:
Feasts appointed on fixed days in the
Calendararenotobservedonthedaysof

Feasts falling in these weeks are trans

lives lived in the midst of specific historical circum

with absolutes of perfection but human lives, in all
their diversity, open to the motions of the Holy Spirit.
Many a holy life, when carefully examined, will reveal
flaws or the bias of a particular moment in history or
ecclesial perspective: Attitudes toward those outside

what, in one age, was taken as virtue may at another

God Day All Saints,

Ask members of our church family today about
the strengths of All Saints Vista, and you are sure
to hear the words Welcoming, Hospitality, Fellowship, Faith, Hope and Beauty. Those certainly create a good strong foundation upon which to build,
and each of us already has a part.
We all are Ambassadors and Hosts in Gods
house, to everyone who asks about or attends All
Saints. Our IN Reach and OUT Reach ministries
are wonderful opportunities for each of us to extend
His hand, work and word and we need your help.
There is a place for EACH of us as active or
supportive members of the Fellowship Team. What
gifts could YOU bring? We need your visions, your
ideas and your hands. Please feel free to make
suggestions or join us as an active participant on
this important Fellowship and Hospitality Ministry
Team. Lets make All Saints THE place to be.
In His Service, Tisha Bullock and Karen Hunter
