Goal Statement

Timeline
(start to finish)

Professional
Development:
Attend two
International Society
for Technology in
Education
conferences in my
first five years of
teaching.
Classroom
Technology: I would
like to provide my
school with wearable
virtual reality
technology such as

Needed
Resources/Materials
(include people)
Funding for conference
and/or travel &
lodging: Roughly
$1500-$2000
$500-$600 for event
attendance
$400-$600 for lodging
$500-$600 for travel
and food
Funding for the
technology could range
up to $5000 depending
on number needed and
individual price points
of different models.

Educational Rationale for Goal

The ISTE Conference & Expo

provides access to professional
development opportunities
relevant to technology in
education. It also allows for a
hands-on learning opportunities in
regards to current and emerging
educational technologies.
There are multiple programs
emerging and in development that
allow, or will allow, teachers to
guide students wearing virtual
reality glass through field trips to
places many would not otherwise

virtual reality glasses.

Classroom
Software: I would
like to purchase and
use Odeum RolePlaying Games in my
classroom within my
first two years of
teaching.

Fall 2018 through

Spring 2019

Funding could be
achieved through the
school district with
permission from the
School Board.
Funding could be
achieved through a
grant such as Digital
Wish.
This software is
currently in its beta
testing phase so
packages and costs are
unclear.
I would seek
permission to use it
from school
administrators.
I would seek funding
for a school
subscription or license
from the school board
or through a grant
such as Digital Wish.
If unable to secure
funding for a school
version, I would
purchase an individual
subscription or license

have the opportunity to see.

Odeum could be a valuable tool in

teaching history in a secondary
setting. Information can be
delivered in a more relatable way
for students through game play.
Student learning could be assessed
both by having students play a
game while tracking their progress
and by having students create
their own game using the software.

Continuing
Education: Take a
course to learn how
to develop apps for
iOS.

Fall 2018 through

Fall 2020

Premium
Classroom App: I
would like to obtain a
premium subscription
to the NearPod app.

for my own classroom.

Stanford offers free
courses for learning to
create apps through
iTunes U.
I just need access to
iTunes U through a
computer, tablet, or
phone.
I would seek
permission to use apps
I created in my
classroom from
administrators, but no
other resources are
required.
If not already in place
in the district or
school, I would propose
purchasing a school or
district premium
subscription to
administrators.
I would seek to secure
funding through the
school board or
through grants such as
Digital Wish.

Learning to code applications could

be invaluable in a classroom
setting. It would enable to me to
create apps or games students can
download to tablets or mobile
devices that align directly with the
curriculum in my classroom.

NearPod is an extremely useful tool

in presenting information to
students in a one-to-one setting. It
also allows students not in the
classroom to follow along. The
premium subscription grants
access to extra tools and activities
to allow for greater differentiated
instruction.

funding for the school

or district, I would
purchase my own
subscription for $10 a
month for my own
classroom.
