What is Tennis?
Tennis is a sport that can be played with either two or
four players, the objective of this sport is to place the
ball inside of the white lines that are painted onto the
ground.
There are multiple score options when playing for all
divisions

10 and under
12s
14s
16s
18s
And adults

Psychological benefits
There are many benefits to playing tennis, over the 13
years that I have been playing I have witnessed some
first hand.
While playing your mind tends to get tired as well as
your body which takes a toll with your patience when
hitting the ball.
During a point you need the most control and patience
possible to be able to take the point into your own
hands.
Another thing is that most people do not know is how
tennis helps with leadership, when I play in school
tennis we have to work together as a team but also
take the lead when it comes to getting everyone
together and organized as well as leading your team to
victory.

The Beginning
The start of modern tennis began in Birmingham,
England. However most believe that it originated to
England from French Monks.
Before the racquet was designed tennis was played
with hands.
However it really was not called tennis at first, they
called it lawn tennis. There is not much different
but it was unique

players. Also have different weights, balances and
stiffness's.

Mid Power and Mid Control

Types of Shots
In the game of tennis there are so many shot
choices to make while in a point
Forehands
Backhands
Volleys
Overheads
Serves
Specialty shots

http://www.tenniscompanion.org/types-of-tennis-shots/

The forehand
Topspin
This shot can be used with 3 different types of
grips
Semi-western
Eastern
Western

Flat
Most people with an eastern grip can hit this one
more effectively and use angles well

Slice
You hit this shot with one hand to create backspin
on the ball which makes the ball drop quickly after
it bounces

The Backhand
When hitting the backhand it is very similar to
hitting a forehand except most people use two
hands for better control
The backhand can be used in the same ways
as the forehand
Topspin
Flat
Slice

Volleys and overheads

Volleys are hit when a player is at the net and
attacks the ball before it hits the ground.
All volleys and overheads are hit with a
continental grip, if not the player is at risk for
shanking the ball out or into the net.
Overheads are hit when an opponent hits the ball
high and tries to pass the player while the yare at
the net which then makes the player hit it above
their head and try to put the ball away.

The Serve
The serve is the most important shot of a match
because it is the shot that starts the point.
There are 3 different types of serves that a player
can hit,
Flat used for its speed and power
Kick for when you want to pull the opponent back
Slice used to pull the opponent out wide off the
court
All of these have different results when executed
properly.

Specialty Shots
All of these shots are just ways for the player to
get a ball back in play and sometimes win the
point completely.
There are many types of shots that fall into this
category

Approach shot
Passing shot
Lob
Chip and charge
Dropshot
Putaway
Winner
Tweener
