US History

Implement unit plans that are rooted in developing historical thinking skills and critical thinking that

Independent Study AP Comparative Politics


Provide support for four students as they prepare for the AP Comparative Government and Politics exam.
Create unique learning environment where students collaborate, prepare and develop their own
understandings of comparative governments independently.

Developed Government district wide curriculum and assessments that were aligned with Common Core
literacy standards.
Established a rigorous learning community that connected content specific concepts and current events
to the lives of the students.
Promoted active citizenship by encouraging critical thinking, collaboration and discussion.
Advanced World History (2012,2015)
Established a learning community with paraprofessional that differentiated instruction for IEP students
and English language learners.
Provided freshmen students with foundation of historical skills including: accessing political cartoons,
maps, primary sources and identifying bias, and developing an argument.
Global Economics (2012-2014)
Collaborated with Economics PLC to develop a Personal Finance Unit that gave students the opportunity
to plan for college, learn how to apply for jobs, and budget for their futures.
Incorporated a variety of sources in the classroom that engaged students in the current state of the
economy and allowed them to create solutions to problems they may face after high school (ex: College
Affordability).

LEADERSHIP
US History PLC Team Leader
Work with teachers across District 300 to finalize common assessments and yearlong curriculum.
Select common ACT readings and strategies, review data and chart growth of junior students.
Lead piloted pre and post unit tests to track student growth in compliance with PERA.
United Nations Foundation: Girl Up
Hosted Girl Up Dundees first Gala with special guest Senator Michael Noland and 70 people for dinner to
raise funds and awareness for the health, safety and education for girls in developing nations.
Develop school awareness for girls rights around the school community through participation in school
events, including hosting a He Named Me Malala screening and discussion.
Assistant National Honor Society
Foster student leadership and service in the community.
Host an all-member community clean up event that worked to improve the neighborhoods near school.
