Objectives
(SWBAT)
By the end of this class, students will be able to individually answer multiple
choice questions about the five senses on a worksheet.
Big Idea
The human organism depends on the interactions between its multiple organ
systems.

part in the quiz. Two students or groups of students will be able to use the
computers in the back of the classroom. If someone does not have access to an
electronic device, they will be paired up with someone who does. Students get
points if they get the right answer. The amount of points they get depends on
how fast they answer the question. This will give students a fun and competitive
way to review what we learned today before they are asked to do the
assessment on their own.
This is the second time I will be using Kahoot with this group. The last time went
very well but there was too much calling out of answers and loud talking in
between questions. This time I will explain to them beforehand that I expect
them to follow the regular class rules during this activity so that we can get
through it smoothly.
The kahoot will contain questions from both todays class and last weeks class
on vision and hearing
12:10 12:20
Assessment:
Students will be given a worksheet containing several multiple choice questions
about the 5 senses we covered over the last 2 classes. They will be asked to
answer the questions by themselves. They can start their homework if they
finish quickly.
Homework: Workbook p.121-128 and finish worksheet package.
This will be due on March 16th
Differentiation
Students will be able to use test the information they learned in the PowerPoint
with a hands on lab activity.
Students will have a chance to practice answering multiple choice questions in a
stress free environment before being assessed.

related competencies.
Reflection
Overall I think this was an effective lesson. Giving the students the slides to
write on and follow along was definitely helpful. I will be adding better visual
indications of where the stuff I am talking about is in the pictures on my slides.
This should give students a clearer understanding of the anatomy of the skin,
tongue and nose. I still need to work on my pacing during note taking activities. I
am comfortable when I can flow from slide to slide presenting the information. I
know they have difficulty listening to and understanding me if they are writing. I
should be stopping before each slide to give students time to write down the
information before I start talking. The notes may take a little longer this way, but
their understanding of the material will be much greater.
The labs went very well and I think I managed the time effectively. I think my
explanations before the labs was clear and most students only need a few
clarifications on what to do before the got started. I really like the suggestion to
keep a central record of the data that the students collect. This will give them a
better understanding of the bigger picture and make it much easier to go over
the results as a class after the lab. When I do these labs again, I will have
students write a hypothesis for each lab before starting, so that they are testing
their own theories.
This was the second time I did a Kahoot activity with this class. It went much
better this time. Making it clear that I expected them to follow the normal class
rules during the activity and having a prize at the end made them focus on their
own answers and take the activity a little more seriously. They love this activity
and I will be using it again in the near future.
The multiple choice quiz was an alright assessment of what they had learned.
However, they struggled a bit with the material we had covered the class before.
I think I will split it into 2 smaller quizzes next time and give one at the end of
each period on the senses.
