1. Once greeted from desks, students will make their way to the front of
the classroom to sit on the mat. The Teacher then reads The Hungry
Caterpillar, to go over the lifecycle of a butterfly. The Teacher then
goes over the features of natural and managed environments with the
students in a whole group discussion.
2. The teacher will then explain the purpose of the lesson to the
students by saying:
Today we will use our IPads working with the Camera App. Once
your put into your groups I will give you 10 minutes to go outside the
classroom and take photos of features and things that you think make
up both natural and managed environments for example: grass is
apart of natural and bricks are apart of managed.
3. Now teacher will split the children up into groups and hand out one
IPad to each group, and take the students outside to start taking their
photos.

9:05am

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

4. As the Teacher is walking the students, in two lines to the outdoor
area the teacher will say
We are outside now, I want you to remember the rules of being
outside you must stick with you group members, speak quietly and
make sure you walk on the pavement. You now have 10 minutes to
walk around and take photos of both natural and managed features

of our environment and also features that makeup the lifecycle of a
butterfly. I will walk around to make sure you are all on task
5. Teacher must only allow 10 minutes for the students to walk around
and take photos, as they need to move onto their next lesson.

9:15am

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

1. To conclude the lesson, the teacher calls upon the students and says
Please come back inside quickly and quietly, put your IPads back
into the charger carriers and sit back down on the mat. OK GO!
2. Now students are on mat the teacher asks a few students, what did
they take photos of and why they took those photos?

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)
