There are a multitude of tattoo style in the tattooing industry.

Abstract is a modern style that usually doesnt require an outline.
Asian/Oriental/Yakuza tattoos consist of the cherry blossom, lotus, samurais, and
Koi fish.
These Asian tattoo typically tell a story and are extremely detailed.
This art is planned out and tends to be 2 dimensional not 3D.
A black and gray tattoo realizes heavily on shading that creates a 3D effect.
In a black and gray tattoo a tattoo artist can use white ink to sharpen lines and
enhance the tattoo.
A fine line tattoo is made possible by the improvements of the tattoo machine,
needles, and ink.
This style of tattooing is mainly used when trying to recreate portraits.
The Celtic designs are made up of: knots, crosses, spirals, trinity knots, tree of
life, and animal forms.
Bio-mechanical tattoos consist of transforming the human skin to look like a
machine.
Tribal Tattoos came from the cultures of the Polynesian, Native American, and
Micronesia.
These tattoos represent symbolic events and used to mark different tribes.
Tribal tattoos are done in black and white and can consist of geometric designs.
Old School tattoos are known as American Traditional and were extremely
popular.
Thicker lines are used and inspiration is typically nautical and military in the
theme.
Neo Traditional or Modern Traditional, which mean traditional with a newer
element added to the design, began in the 1980s.
This tattoo design is bright and bold that has contemporary & fantastical
designs, combing multiple styles of tattooing in one piece.
New school tattoos are all about free-styling and custom ideas that stray away
from traditionalism.
Other style consist of cartoons, cover ups, and script.
