1. Knowing how to self-asses, please grade yourself for the Aoki article and state why you
have provided yourself this grade. Next state the new total (out of 400).

My Grade: D+

Reasons: Reading back over my Aoki article, I dont really know if I would call it a reflection so
much as a summary of the article. At least I had the presence of mind to include a single sentence
about what the points in the article have to do with me as a teacher but that pretty well still
missed the point entirely. I think that my summary does cover some important points, so its
not like the reflection is entirely devoid of useful information. With that said I think that this
reflection is of lower quality than my second reflection and therefore should have a lower mark.
Overall, I think that the mark of D+ (or perhaps a C-, but lets stick with just one) is more
appropriate.

New total/grade:

295/400, 74%

2. What do you believe your final grade should be? Please state all the reasons for this grade
incorporating the growth you have demonstrated from response 1 (Aoki) to response 4
(love and logic), be specific. The most important part in establishing your final grade is a
demonstration of growth not the individual grades (or average).

My Final Grade: A

Reasons: I think that I have shown remarkable improvement. Beyond just looking at the grades, I
think that the quality of the work itself is noticeably improved. I think that both the Summarize
and Connect/Reflect section of my work have been improved. Previously, my summarizing was
rather heavy handed and did not really go so far as to show I had truly understood what the
article was pointing out. As per my self-assessment of the Aoki article, I think that its safe to say
that my earlier responses were almost devoid of actual reflection, especially when compared to
my current work. My understanding can also be shown through my self-assessments- Ive clearly
demonstrated that I have a critical understanding in my reflections and that I also understand the
areas in which they are lacking. As per your own words, I agree with your grade for the
exact reasons you stated. I think that this should be indicator enough to prove how far Ive
progressed.

Assessment
Individual responses will be used as a means of carrying out a dialogue between yourself, your
instructor, and your peers. The total body of all responses will be assigned a grade based on a
rubric including student self-assessment and instructor assessment components.
