Dear Parents,
Sauganash plans on administering the End of the Year PARCC assessment to our
third through eighth grade students during the weeks of April 4 th and 11th. We
ask that you help your child get a good nights rest before each of the testing
days. Please also make sure that your child gets to school on time and eats a
healthy breakfast the morning of each of the tests.
*Our 6, 7, and 8th grade students have been selected to take a PARCC Field Test
session. Please see the new schedule below.
Sauganash PARCC Testing Schedule:
Grades 3rd and 4th will take the English language arts assessment on April 5 th, 6th, and 7th
from 8:10-10:00. They will complete the math portion of the assessment on April 11 th and
12th from 8:10-10:00 and again from 12:00-2:00. Make-up testing: April 14 th and 15th.
Grade 5 will take the English language arts assessment on April 5 th, 6th, and 7th from 10:1012:00. They will complete the math portion of the assessment on April 11 th and 12th from
10:10-12:00 and again from 1:00-3:00. Make-up testing: April 14 th and 15th.
*Grade 6 will take the English language arts assessment on April 5 th and 6thfrom 10:1012:00 and April 11th from 10:10-12:00 and again from 1:00-2:00. They will complete the
math portion of the assessment on April 14th and 15th from 1:00-3:00 and 14th from 10:1012:00 and again from 1:00-3:00. Make-up testing will take place after Spring Break.
*Grade 7 will take the English language arts assessment on April 5 th, 6th, 7th and 11th from
8:10-10:00. They will complete the math portion of the assessment on April 11 th from
11:00-12:30, April 12th and 14th from 9:10-11:00. Make-up testing: April 15th.
*Grade 8 will take the English language arts assessment on April 5 th, 6th, 7th and 11th from
8:10-10:00. They will complete the math portion of the assessment on April 11 th from
11:00-12:30 and 14th from 9:10-11:00 and again from 11:00-12:30. Make-up testing: April
15th.
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a consortium of
states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on
track to be successful in college and their careers. These high quality, computer-based K-12
assessments in mathematics and English language arts/literacy give teachers, schools, students and
parents better information about whether students are on track in their learning and for success
after high school, and tools to help teachers customize teaching and learning to meet student needs.
The PARCC assessment is based on the core belief that assessment should work as a tool for
enhancing teaching and learning. Because the assessment are closely aligned with the new, more
rigorous Common Core State Standards (CCSS), they ensure that every child is on a path to college
and career readiness by measuring what students should know at each grade level. They also

provide parents and teachers with timely information to identify students who may be falling behind
and need extra help, as well as students who are excelling and are ready for additional challenges.
