Tenses

Present Simple
The Present Simple is formed by the verb in the first column, and for HE, SHE, and IT, we
add the s. (I play, you play, he/she plays, it plays, we play, you play, they play).
It is used to talk about fixed habits or routines (He always goes to bed at 11 oclock),
things that do not change. It describes permanent situations (She works in a bank) or
facts (The sun rises in the east).
It is used with frequency adverbs, like always, often, sometimes, rarely, and never.
And also with expressions like every day/week/month, in the morning/evening/afternoon,
at night, on Mondays, etcetera.
It can also have a future use, for timetables: The train leaves at 8.00.

Present Continuous
The Present Continuous is formed by the verb TO BE plus the verb with -ING. (I am
playing, you are playing, he/she is playing, it is playing, we are playing, you are playing,
they are playing).
It is used to talk about actions happening at the moment of speaking (I am reading;
The sun is shining now) and temporary situations (He is spending the weekend with
his mother).
It is used with time expressions like now, at the moment, today, tonight, nowadays,
etcetera.
It can also have a future use, for fixed arrangements in the future: Im going to the
theatre this evening.
