PERSON SPECIFICATION: RESEARCH OFFICER – HEAD OFFICE

ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
EXPERIENCE Background in biomedical sciences or related discipline One or more year’s work in a similar role
Experience of working in a research environment
or for a medical research charity
Administrative experience

KNOWLEDGE Educated to degree level or equivalent Knowledge of Microsoft Access or other


Using Microsoft Office packages including spreadsheets, word databases
processing, and graphics packages Understanding of research management
Understanding of financial management
processes
Knowledge of the voluntary sector
SKILLS / Good organisational and administrative skills, able to prioritise,
APTITUDE juggle multiple tasks and work to deadlines
Able to quickly master new concepts/complex information
Excellent communication skills – both written and oral, including the
ability to convey scientific ideas and concepts to a lay audience;
Able to establish and maintain good working relationships with
people from a wide range of personal and professional
backgrounds and at all levels of seniority;
Excellent and consistent attention to detail
Good interpersonal skills
