Are You Printing

What Im Printing

Does the generation affect the decision of which a customer chooses to buy as for
technology wise? To be more specific, the company is focusing on printers of different brands.
Workers may observe that young adults will consistently by more advanced printers that is quite
difficult to process. This decision process can make others think that why he or she had to choose
that printer instead of this. As for older adults, observers see that the choice they have made just
make individuals think or ask researchers, What century are you from. With this statement
juggling around in their brains brings them to a hypothesis saying, What is it that I am not
seeing that I can recommend to help these individuals while keeping it simple. In addition to
this statement, printing has become a lot more accessible to the general public in recent years,
with printing even possible directly from some modern smartphones. While home printing may
be adequate for personal use, it is a different ball game for people using printing services to
market their business. Businesses will always be in need of quality printing products, as well as
the knowledge and advice that they can expect with doing business with a professional print
company. Furthermore, the most asked for or wanted printers within the business world and
almost any tech. retail store is HP and research explains that it is asked by young adults within
the age group of 16-35. Knowing this information can solve some specific complications that
some office retailers will have. Indeed, one specific way that it can help is by letting
manufactures and the company of which a printer is sold, summarize or come to a final
conclusion, by their inventory, of what needs to be sold or created more to help maintain an
equilibrium of printers bought by customers.
Researching this topic took several of different sources to utilize because such question
has not yet been taking into consideration. To keep in mind that this topic has much to do with
business, technology, and critical observation, choosing sources would have to be exact and on

topic. In addition to that, sources such JSTOR, would be pretty helpful but not to this topic.
ProQuest Career and Technical Education will be a precise source to carry out the rest of this
research. This particular source is very trusted and is consistently used for reference because it
has been peer reviewed. Meaning, it has been written by experts within their field and were
reviewed by several other experts in the field before the article is published in the journal in
order to protect the articles value. In continuation, to be sure the information researched
matched the topic, searching the criteria will first have to broad and then narrowed. First input
will be about the history of printing and how it has improved over time. This information is
important to this topic because it shows how the evolution of time and people effect what is
being used and how technology must evolve with it as well. Second input will be about the age
group who most likely partake in this evolution and choose what either fits their lifestyle or
simply because it looks fascinating. Researching this is critical because now as more individuals
get older and more are being born, choices tend to be very different as for what is best and
suitable. Researching that previous input directly led to the question, what is technology in this
generation and how does it affect the business world. To be more specific, printers would be in
place of other technologies because who in the world does not need a well presented piece of
paper that can be designed in many ways that carries out your ideas or others. To add, think
about how individuals purchase items and why? In other words, individuals would not mind
holding a brochure, taking a business card and think about things before jumping straight in to
buying things. Overall, printing will never go out of style. Furthermore, the next input that was
researched was the different type of printers and the significance of the printers. In other words,
why would professionals choose this certain printers over the others? Is it because of the pages

per minute (PPM) it prints in both black and white and color, or is it because that it is brand new
and the latest.
Next, all the information received to carry out this research was by ProQuest Career and
Technical Education. ProQuest is an important partner for content holders of all types,
conserving and enabling access to their rich and varied information. These partnerships have
built a growing content collection that now incorporates 90,000 authoritative sources, 6 billion
digital pages and spans six centuries of data. In addition to that, while researching the topic that
is proposed, information such as when was the first printer invented, how was it used, and how
has it evolved? From that, sources showed information that the first printer or printing was
Woodblock Printing. Block printing is a technique for printing text, images or patterns used
widely throughout East Asia both as a method of printing on textiles and later, under the
influence of Buddhism, on paper. After that, the climax in the world of printing was researched.
In return, research shows that the one and only Xerox, was a huge turning point in not just
printing, but in businesses as well. Xerox was founded in 1906 in Rochester as The Haloid
Photographic Company, which originally manufactured photographic paper and equipment. In
1938 Chester Carlson, a physicist working independently, created a process for printing
imageries using an electrically charged drum and dry powder "toner". Joseph C. Wilson, credited
as the "founder of Xerox", took over Haloid from his father. He saw the promise of Carlson's
invention and, in 1946, signed an agreement to develop it as a commercial product. Wilson
remained as President/CEO of Xerox until 1967 and served as Chairman until his death in 1971.
The company came to prominence in 1959 with the introduction of the Xerox 914,"the most
successful single product of all time." The Xerox 914, the first plain paper photocopier was
developed by Chester Carlson and John H. Dessauer; it was so popular that by the end of 1961,

Xerox had almost $60 million in revenue and in addition to that, revenues leaped to over $500
million by 1965. The company grew tremendously throughout the 1960s, making millionaires of
some long-suffering investors who had fostered the company through the slow research and
development phase of the product. In 1960, a xerography research facility called the Wilson
Center for Research and Technology was opened in Webster, New York. In 1961, the company
altered its name to Xerox Corporation.
Furthermore, researching the data was pretty critique and spot on. For example, in an
article by Mr. Roger Nevin, he states, ..Jason does not have the time to go home and print
something.. What this brief quotation is trying to explain is how situations can occur out of
nowhere and how it can be resolved. First, in the scenario, Jason has to print something that must
be very important yet he is on a time schedule. Furthermore, going back home to print something
that he has on his mobile device is not an option for him because of time restraint. In addition to
that, Jasons destination has printers but would require effort in trying to print something and is
possibly not a choice either. In regards to that, Google decided to pair with different major
printing companies to install what is called Google Cloud Print. What this does is that newer or
up to date printers will have a symbol on the printer indicating that individuals can print from
their mobile devices. Meaning, just simply download a particular application that is designed for
that printer and continue on from there. In the reverse situation with Jason, knowing that the
printers within his destination are wireless printers, Jason can simply download an application
for whatever printer that is there and continue to print. In continuation, this also helps
manufactures and certain retailers know what to create next and what to slow down on. Also, the
generation aspect kicks in because in a lot of major businesses or businesses, researchers know

that it consist of tons of young adults, who are most likely interested in tech. savvy items, adults
whos age ranges from 21-43, and a few of older adults who are caught up in the technology era.
Next, knowing the different types of printers such as Inkjet, laser, and LED which are
very similar but some individuals beg to disagree. Business professionals would rather
prefer laser printers instead of inkjet printers. Why, is what some individuals may ask?
Well, even though laser printers uses the same technology as a photocopier to paint dots
of light on a light-sensitive drum. Electrostatically charged ink is applied to the drum and
then transferred to paper. A laser printer prints faster than an ink jet printer, but laser
printers are more complex than inkjet technology, which accounts for the higher price of
laser printers. Furthermore, within the business world, experts would rather prefer black
and white copies which most basic printer produce. Color laser printers are available but
they are most definitely costly than basic black and white printers. Overall, laser printers
are often the choice for business printers, particularly for applications that produce a high
volume of printed material. Another debate that has been going on throughout the
printing world is what the manufacturers are actually using to create the printers.
Customers and businesses who purchase more up-to-date printers continuously complain
about how jams are becoming more constant and the printer does not last long at all.
However, businesses that purchased older printers are not complaining as much as the
individuals with newer printers. This scenario made customers wonder as stated before,
what are they putting or using in these printers. Now, major brand printers especially HP
(Hewlett-Packard) use less hazardous materials called #5 plastic, Durafold, that
eventually causes the printer to slow down and malfunction in certain ways. In addition
to that, manufactures also decreased the quality of the actual printing ink by substituting

some of the ink that printers use then with a specific type of mold. Furthermore, another
debate that is going is how the ink is being recycled or supposed to be recycled. The 2014
Supplies Recycling Study found that even if customers return an empty cartridge or toner
to a remanufacturer or someone who can refill it, theres no guarantee that it will be kept
out of a landfill. Information says that 35% of ink and 23% of toner cartridges composed
by remanufactures were unusable for remanufacturing. Of those specifically, 30% of ink
and 50% of toner ink goes to landfill because many remanufacturing do not have a
recycling method.
As stated before, some questions that customers still have asked is why is there
products not lasting long, and why do manufactures exaggerate to tell them. In the eyes
of the customer, they have the right to know what they are buying and is it worth buying.
Also, knowing that manufactures of major brand printers would not disclose certain
messages to customers, many retailers provide certain warranties that cover specific
damages that may occur. Retailers such as Office Depot provides what is called a
Performance Protection Plan (PPP). This PPP covers almost any item that can move,
accepts batteries, and more. As for printers, this protection plan covers electrical issues,
heat and dust, and internal damages. However, as for any other brands warranties, they
are limited. Limited is in quotations because retailers and businesses strongly
emphasize their limited warranty because they only cover electrical problems.
Furthermore, customers really believe that they do not provide the best service as for
what is right and wrong. Meaning, if a power outage would have occurred and an
individuals printer were to go out, the manufacturer will tell customers that he or she
should not have had it plugged in into a bad outlet or if he or she knows that the weather

is bad then they should have unplugged it. Overall, their message to customers is that HP
or other major printing corporations does not want customers broken printer and that they
should have been more responsible with their merchandise. However, retailers as stated
before such as Office Depot, also covers accidental damage which consist of a water
spill, accidentally dropping it, and to as simple as a crack view screen. What is sad now is
how some of these manufactures cannot even provide great quality printers that cannot
even last long enough and will not even provide another printer without any hassling.
In the end, David has learned tons of knowledge about the world of technology
and especially printers. He has learned that the history of printing is very significant and
how it has evolved over time. Some information that was obtained was something that
David was not expecting but he was still able to apply the information in a very
professional way but yet teach others what is out there. Also he cultured about the
business world and what to expect when he journeys there in the future. While
researching this topic, he learned how the cycle of technology is made and how different
manufactures interpret and analyze customers buying patterns to predict or get an idea of
what to create next or stock on. David also learned how the young part of the world
thinks and how the generation affects almost everything about them. From this, he was to
do a quick self-analysis about himself. He figured that investigating different situations is
something that catches his interest and something that he would love to pursue in in the
future. In addition to that, he also felt the desire that technology was something that he
also had to look into because grasping information about technology items is something
that came naturally to him. Furthermore, David characteristics can be best described as
out-going, funny, and a peoples person. These characteristics in further explanation was

determined by his intern or workforce. David communicates to every customer that is

willing to buy anything that is technology and especially printers. He communicated
information that could be the customers first time hearing about something and even
blow their minds. He also knows how to handle situations in a very professional manner
and who to contact incase the issue is out of his level. After completing this research,
David took into strong consideration that pursuing a career in the tech. business but
investigating was more of his strong suit.
