then bring then turn around and skate it back to the goalline. Can add in backwards skating.
Can substitute nets if no tires are available.
3. N-zone agility: Players start on blue line in neutral zone. Skate patterns as shown working on
agility, balance and foot speed. Controlled repetition to perform skating skills, change up
pattern and go both ways to ensure repetition in turning and transitioning both ways.
Switch side of red line neutral zone if ice is getting chewed up.
4. Four leaf Clover: Same set up as Iron Cross. This time player skates forward the entire time
using tight turns to get through the pattern. Tight turn right everytime they hit the center
dot and tight turn to the left back to the center when they hit the edge of the circle. Can add
in puck.
5. Puck Figure 8: : Player follows a figure 8 pattern around two pucks. Player faces coach entire
time. Coach is enforcing proper technique paired with speed. Can add in puck for difficulty,
focus is on proper transition technique and speed, proper body position as well.
Second Slot
1. D-Man Pig Out: Players set up as shown in diagram. Defenseman picks up first puck then
passes to first winger. Winger goes down and shoots. After pass is made, same Defenseman
skates back behind the net picking up another puck and passes to opposite side winger.
Winger goes down and shoots. Same Defensemen picks up another puck behind the net and
passes to the center. Center goes down and shoots. Next Defenseman in line passes to the
first D who goes and shoots. Make sure Center is shadowing the defensemen as he goes
back and forth making his passes. (15 min)
2. 1 V 1 Regroup: Forwards leave from opposite corners of blue line with a puck. Pass to the
near D, they go D to D, then back up to the forward who is curling. Close Defenseman then
steps up and plays the 1 on 1 against the opposing forward who received the puck. (15 min)
3. 1 V 1: Forwards leave with puck skate whole circle forward then up and around the neutral
zone dot back in on net. At the same time defenseman is skating the transition pattern
shown and then skating up to close the gap and meet the forward for a 1 on 1 situation.
(Half zone) (15 min)
4. 1 V 1, 2 V2, 3V3: Each Forward has a puck. First whistle 1 on 1 out of the first corner. After a
quick play coach blows second whistle, second forward starts out of corner. First group stays
in and plays as a 2 on 2. On third whistle third pair of players join with new puck for a 3 on 3
in zone. (half zone) (15 min)

5. Survivor: Two lines of players at the red line along the boards facing each other. Coach
shoots out puck, first two players play one on one full ice. Coach keeps sending players until
there are 3 one on ones going on. Player who scores gets back in line. Player who gets
scored on sits on the bench. Keep going until last player standing.

Tuesday
Morning Slot:
1. Russian Circles (forward, transitions, backwards)
2. Stations:
1. Chaos Circle: Coaches fill circle with different obstacles (cones, tires, stickhandling sticks,
etc..) send three players in at a time each with a puck. Players skate around obstacles for
about thirty seconds before next group goes in.
2. X Passing: X1 leaves without a puck and gets a pass from X4. X1 then touches it to X3. X4
leaves without a puck and receives the puck from X3. X4 then touches it to X2. X3 then
leaves without a puck and receives it from X2. X3 then touches it to X1. X2 then leaves and
receives a pass from X1. X2 then touches it to X4. This drill all depends on timing when the
player leaves.
3. Figure 8 passing: Two players stand about ten feet apart with a third player in the middle.
The third player begins skating around the two stationary ones while making constant
passes with the two stationary players. Stationary players can also pass amongst eachother
as well as to the moving player.
4. Stationary Stickhandling: Players spread out to have their own space each with their own
puck. The coach then takes them through various stickhandling drills. In tight, wide
stickhandling, to the right side, to the left side, windshield wipers, off the skate, figure 8,
etc
5. Reaction Shot: Player stands in front of coach looking towards the net. Coach slides a puck
through the players leg either to the right of the cone or left. Player must react quickly and
get to the puck and get a good shot. Must use backhand if that is where puck is slid towards.
Second Slot:
1. Three Lane Shooting: Two lines in opposite corners, both with pucks. On whistle three players
from each line leave with a puck. First player goes straight down the boards and geta a shot at
the far end. Second player goes straight until the red line then cuts straight across line until at
center then cuts in towards the goal for a shot. Third player cuts at red line as well, but goes all
the way to the far boards before cutting in for the last shot. Switch sides to practice different
cuts.
2. Canada Cup: Continuous flow drill. Starts with one player on opposite bluelines coming in for a
shot. After they shoot they come behind the net and pick up a puck. Player on half wall curls
inside and opens up for a pass. After first player makes that pass he then joins in line the curling
player just left. Once he receives the pass he then passes it to the next player who is curling to
the boards after starting at the neutral zone dot. After making the pass the second player then
moves into the next line. Once the last curling player receives the puck he then takes it the
length of the ice for a shot and starts the process over again. Switch sides halfway through to
practice different curls. Timing and passing are key to this dill.
3. Olympic 1 V 1: Forwards in opposite corners and all defense in the middle. One defenseman
starts on the neutral zone dot closest to forwards. On the whistle the forward skates around the
net with a puck at full speed. At the same time the defenseman skates straight and taps the
boards before skating the length of the blue line backwards to meet the forward for a 1 V 1.

4. 2 V 1 Double Regroup: Ice is split in half longways. 2 lines of forward on both sides along the red
line and 2 lines of D on the outside of them. Drill starts with two forwards on the red line and
one D on both blue lines. Forwards regroup with first D then skate and regroup with second D
then come back at the first D 2 V 1. Both sides go at the same time. Make sure forwards are
starting with opposite corner D so both do not end up going down the same end for the 2 V 1.
5. Ten Minute Drill: D line up along boards near penalty box. Two lines of Forwards on Blueline on
the boards. Third line of forwards down the far end in the corner. Forwards must score 15 goals
in ten minutes. Defense and goalies must prevent them from doing so. Loser skates. Drill starts
off with the end with 2 forward lines. Coach passes out a puck for a 2 on 0. Players can only
make one pass during this. After that they turn up ice to play a 2 on 1 against a defenseman who
has hopped out. After that the forwards curl again and get a pass from the forward in the corner
who then joins them. 2 new defensemen have hopped out and the play a 3 on 2. After a quick
play, the coach gives a final pass to the last forward that joined who then goes in on a
breakaway. After the breakaway shot the coach starts the drill over again with a 2 on 0.

Wednesday
Morning Slot:
1) Butterfly Skate: Two lines on the goal posts. Players skate down the middle of the ice doing
different skating exercises then peel off at the far circles and skate down the boards back into
line. (Sprints, Backwards, knee touches, jumps, 360s, etc)
Stations
Split the ice into three lanes longways.
1) Races: The first lane on the boards will be used for races. Two lines. One line will start on their
stomach while the second is on their feet. Both leave at the same time trying to be first.
Forwards and backwards. Can add in stops at the blue line or red line for more difficulty.
2) Transitions: This will be the middle lane. Players leave from the goal line and skate to the red
line. They then transition backwards to the blue line, forward to the far blue line, backwards
back to the red line, then all the way down forwards.
3) Dot Suicide: Players skate from goalline to first neutral zone dot, stop, then come back to face
off dot, stop, go to far neutral zone dot, stop, back to first neutral zone dot, stop, all the way to
far end dot, stop, back to second neutral zone dot, stop, then all the way down.
Stations
Two half ice stations.
1) Break out 3 on 2: Coach dumps puck into the corner. 2 defense go and retrieve the puck working
on different types of breakouts. (right up, D to D, Reverse, wheel) Forwards read the breakout
and move accordingly. Once broken out of the zone forwards curl back in to play 3 on 2 against
the defensemen.
2) 2 V 1 back to back nets: Nets are placed back to back in middle of the zone. One side will have
two players from team X and one player from team O. Other side will have two players from
team O and one player from team X. Players can not cross over to the other side. The one player
must try and get the puck to his teammates on the other side so they can score.
Second Slot:

2) Wagon Wheel Progression: Two lines at opposite corners of the blue line. First player from each
line leaves without a puck. Curls around the circle and gets a direct pass from next player in line.
Next player leaves after the pass is made. After players go through two or three times, change
the pass. Now have the player making the pass step across the blue line and wait until the
curling player opens up more towards the boards. Last pass change will be an indirect pass of
the wall. (switch sides after completion of progression)
3) 3 V 0, 3 V 1, 3 V 2: Three lines of forwards on both goal lines, all defense against the boards near
penalty box. One end of forwards leave with one puck to go 3 V 0 making passes and weaving
down the ice. After their shot they curl and receive a pass from forwards down far end and

come back for a 3 V 1. After that play they curl once more to receive another pass to finish the
drill playing 3 V 2.
4) Breakout Regroup 3 V 2: 4 defense and three forwards on the ice to start and everyone else on
the benches. Coach dumps the puck down one end they break the puck out. (Mix in different
breakouts, right up/D to D/reverse/wheel) The forwards then regroup with the defense in the
neutral zone before coming back in on original defense for a 3 on 2. Defense should focus on
moving up with the play and keeping their gaps close.
5) 2 V 1 with Backcheck: Forwards in all four corners, Defense along the boards in neutral zone. To
start drill two forwards start on the blue line, one defenseman on the red line, and one forward
on goalline behind other two forwards to be the backchecker. On whistle forwards attack 2 on 1
and backchecker chases. After a quick play the backchecker swings either right or left to start
next 2 on 1 attack. The side he did not curl to sends a player to be the backchecker. Continuous
drill, no whistles after the first one.
