I am interested in obtaining a position as an elementary teacher.

I have a pending bachelors degree from

Judson College in the spring of 2016. My previous years of working in the classroom as an aide or
completing field experience include a total of seven years. Furthermore, during my college education
coursework, I completed over 200 hours of field experience before embarking upon this semester of
student teaching, which I have completed in second and fifth grades at Asbury Elementary School.
During my teacher candidacy, I have had exceptional and varied professional development opportunities,
and taken advantage of every one offered to me. I have presented at three Kappa Delta Epsilon
Conferences (KDE): the South Regional, Southeast Regional, and National Meeting. KDE is the
honorary education fraternity that I have the privilege of serving as the president of at Judson College.
Additionally, I have participated in professional development training in number talks and in utilizing the
Mimio program for teaching. At Judson College, I have attended the Generation to Generation
Conference and the Guidance Counselor Conference, and I serve on the Education Department's Educator
Preparation Advisory Council. I have also had the privilege of attending a lecture by former first lady
Laura Bush. Through coursework at Judson, I have directed a Thanksgiving play at Albert Turner
Elementary school; become certified in Alabama Math, Science and Technology (AMSTI) math and
science grade three; completed Alabama Reading Initiative Training; and earned certification in Stride
Academy. I believe professional development will help me to remain current in the field and model the
necessity of lifelong learning to my students.
While attending Judson College I have received multiple awards that are listed in my attached resume. I
have also held multiple leadership positions. I have been the Kappa Delta Epsilon Beta Rho Chapter
President for two years. As president, I organized meetings, managed and oversaw the collection and
delivery of books for Better World Books, and led the Judson College Department of Education
Mentoring Program. I was a Judson College Ambassador for two years. The last six months of being an
ambassador, I also served as the Senior Events Coordinator. As Senior Events Coordinator, I arranged
meetings and coordinated schedules for events, such as the on-duty monthly calendar. I also had the
opportunity to be a Judson College Honor Council Representative during my junior and senior years. I
had the privilege to be a part of the Judson College Leadership and Mentoring Program, helping new
students adjust to campus and college life. These leadership positions have enriched and enhanced my
ability to assume leadership roles and plan for school-wide events.
It would be my pleasure to arrange a convenient time to discuss my qualifications as an elementary
educator and how I would be beneficial to your school. I may be contacted at (265) 557-7118 or by email
at heatherwaterhouse23@gmail.com. Thank you for viewing my website and your consideration, and I
look forward to speaking with you in the future regarding your interest.
