‘Thank you for your response to my letter regarding the use of unobligated emergeney appropriations
provided in Fiscal Year 2015 to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Ebola virus in order to
immediately address international and domestic concerns regarding the latest global health threat from the
Zika virus,
As part of our continued conversations surrounding the most appropriate and timely response that can be
mounted by the United States Government to combat Zika, my colleagues Tom Cole and Kay Granger
have sent letters to the Departments of Health and Human Services, State and USAID asking for more
detailed information on the Administration’s plans for spending to combat Zika as well as Ebola. | am
\writing to ask your assistance in expediting a response to these inquiries.
‘This information will assis us in our deliberations on the best path forward to ensuring funds are
available to address both diseases. Copies of both letters are attached.
| appreciate your efforts to move quickly to identify ways to prevent the Zika virus from causing further
harm, both overseas and in the United States. We continue our efforts to identify the most rapid and most
likely path to provide immediate resources to respond to the Zika outbreak. Your timely reply to these

Department of State, Diplomatic and Consular Programs;
Department of State, Emergencies in the Diplomatic and Consular Service;
Department of State, Repatriation Loans Program;
United States, Agency for International Development (USAID), Operating Expenses;
Global Health Programs;
‘Nonproliferation, Anti-Terrorism, Demining and Related Programs; and
Intemational Organizations and Programs.
